One of my pet peeves. "Silicon Sealer." "Silicone Carbide."For example, many years ago a reporter was doing an article on integrated circuits and was interviewing people at my company. The reporter insisted on saying 'silicone' [i.e., the rubbery stuff like silicone sealant] for the material we used which was silicon [pronounced sili ken]. You should have seen the look of disgust on her face when I tried to give her the correct pronounciation!
And on an interview video, the police officer giving the briefing called it a machete. Bottom line...machete, kukri, Bowie or just 'big effing knife', it really isn't the story. Three officers down is.if its manufacturer sells it as a machete , thats its name
