If you were to make a gun to "clean" Manatee gongs...

300 WSM throated for the 200+ bullets all custom in the 20+ pound weight range. Scope NF ATACR5-25.
I am not familiar with the range but "if" I built said gun for it and kept it for that purpose I am sure sooner or later it would get cleaned.

What bullets were you shooting with your 22-250AI if you don't mind me asking? I'm curious how you have it set up.

You resurrected a "dead horse" from last year.

I shoot 77 gr. Bergers ( now discontinued) with Rel 22 behind them. in my AI. Barrel is a Broughton 8 twist. Optics are 8-32 Burris over a Rem 40X single shot. It's a 1/2 moa gun or less but on the 600 yard range the bullet moves around too much in wind. On 600 5" gongs it's a 50% hit gun.

FYI on the new back 600 yard range to date not a single person has cleaned it with 20 hits. Three of us have 19's and that's it. Many talk but few walk that talk.

Yea like its fair shooting on that line. Jim and I shot it back when it was 565 yds and Jim I think was on bench 29 and I was on bench 31. At that angle we were probably shoot 610 yds and at a 30 degree angle to the clay birds ( no gong back then). I shot the east end of the fence and had to switch to the west for my next shot. I was at such an angle that when my bullet hit dirt it looked like I had missed by 2 feet. If you don't have bench 3 or 4 you aren't in line and it only gets worse the farther away you get. Will the new range have a way to keep the target square to the shooter?
The new 602 yard paper (625 steel) range, all 16 benches are square to the firing line.

How big are the gongs?

Our 600 yard gongs are 5" in diameter. Still waiting for someone to hit one with all 20 shots in the shoot. Next chance is July 21st. Three of us have done 19 hits. Some have gone over 20 hits in a row including shoot-offs. Just waiting for YOU to be the first.

I would use a StreetSweeper using blasting media on top of the wad of the 12ga shells, shoot at 10 feet or so, should clean them down to bare metal. Prime and paint and your done:p.

You did say no rules and did not specify the type of 'clean'....;)
I LIKE IT,

There are rules. No calibers above 30 and you have to shoot from the benches, 630 yards from the gongs. Now if that 12 gauge is not a caliber and you can lob that "Streetsweeper" with a very tight choke ...
