IF you get tired of that shiny stainless barrel (Quick Fix)

Tonite I gave the butt ugly Tikka T3x in 6.5 Creed a make over with the same process ,,,
started out chasing brown but dumped that notion for a granite grey to match the receiver .

Then I looked it over and didn't like the black bolt assembly so I made that a matte stainless
to match the barrel ...

The action is cerakoted grey and the barrel burning took it to a perfect match ...

Enjoy !!

I'm just glad to know there's a treatment for stainless to take the glare off.

Not that I don't appreciate the rest of it, nice job!

Thanks for sharing. I'd definitely never thought about that.

My solution was different.
All mine are blued but at times can give off a bit of "flash" in the sun.

I just had the Mrs sew a "sleeve" that slides over the barrel and first 2" of the stock from cammo cloth. A cable tie holds it in place. Resolves most of the issue.

Sounds nicer than camo duct tape

So far we have a multitude of shades of brown , grey's and definitely black.....I'd say if you play with this stuff you can dial in a whole palette of colors and it won't rub off.....
So a camo pattern is certainly obtainable,
The sky is the limit chaps...

Well sir I'm sure the wife enjoyed making that for you on her sewing machine
it's a lost art ...
But that just isn't gonna cut it with my rifles...
That's like wearing a condom

A better picture in some better light
Here’s my process.
Sand or polish perfectly
Clean. Absolutely clean
Apply chemicals with a paint rag, not a blue shop towel
Wash off with water
Reapply with worn out red scotchbrite
Wash again with water
All while wearing new rubber gloves IMG_1435.jpeg

I have a stainless Remington 700 in 260 REM that is mirror polished. A hunting rifle.
I have a sleeve I purchased that is of a material similar to a T-shirt. Rubber band at muzzle keeps front in place, rear has the scope ring through it.

Mentioned this process to a gunsmith friend and his comment was that it doesn’t last long compared to cerakote which lasts a long time.
He didn’t quantify how long “long” is for this process.
