f'rinstance, acetone won't TOUCH CeraKote. Nor any other solvent I know of
You may well be right but I've tried to remove CeraKote overspray from the back lugway on a Rem and on a BAT and in both cases even steel wool had little effect.
I guess by "soaking" you mean to immerse the part(s) for long periods? Kinda hard to immerse overspray. Altho that might have worked on a buggered up bolt we asked NOT to be coated......
BTW, when I refer to "CeraKote" I'm referring only to the highgrade stuff since now they've come out with 'air dry' and 'low heat' versions
