IF you get tired of that shiny stainless barrel (Quick Fix)

I am a hunter ,,,
Not a target shooter or PRS guy , so I tend to not like shiny silver on my platforms
Paint rubs off and scratches easily ...I have a Cerakote set up but need to complete my oven.

So this morning I found myself with some time on my hands (rare) and was in the shop
giving my new 204 Fastback Solus chassis a paint job .
I was getting her ready for the field , and didn't wanna paint the barrel
but also did not want that silver .

So I decided to prep it with acetone and then proceeded to test a surface area
to see how she responded to the black nitride finish I have and as it slowly started to burn
I stopped the exposure to the chemical and wiped it down..

I was looking at a gorgeous bronze finish ...and thought ????? why don't people leave it
at that rather than black always ?

I like brown..

So I proceeded to slowly do the same for the entire surface and then stood back and admired it .
I then looked at my 22 Creedmor on the wall with a long bead blasted barrel I had and decided
that a matte bronze would be saweet ....and did that one as well.

Whatcha Think ? I like it ...

Thank You
I have a new Bead Blasting Cabinet that I have assembled and modified as they will all need improvements
out of the box

I'm a firm believer that every barrel should be bead blasted and finished and I intend to do this to all of mine I also have built a Cerakote spray booth and an oven I will be using as well

Very interesting!

Curious about a couple of details.

If a barrel was finished with say, 400 grit paper, do you think the bronze finish you're showing would be even? Or do you think bead blasting is the only way to go?

Well it's simply a matter of taste
The first one I had in the video is the Hart barrel. That is most likely finished exactly like you're talking about

And that is what's pictured
It's the difference between a slight glare or a matte finish

Left is bead blasted
R is polished

As far as i'm concerned, both are beautiful

That pic of the polished finish was under a glaring light
and made it look lighter than it actually is ..

This pic displays the color better and obviously you can work it to whatever shade or darkness you desire when applying it .
