If you could only own one rifle?

Like the title says, if you could have only one rifle what would it be?

Mine would be my win model 70 in 280rem. It has been such a reliable gun and can do just about anything. There is ample brass,bullets and powder options. Plus I bought it at age 11 with lawn mowing money. I've had it for 27 years with not a single issue .

Heck, if I could only have one -- I guess I'd finally break down and get an AR. Probably go with 308, and get other barrels for smaller cartridges.

Right now, I'm the only guy who doesn't have one. jd

If I can have multiple uppers, f--- yeah, good point.
I'd start with something DMRish in 223, though.

If it was just President Hillary and Awful Andy screwing us with a restriction then maybe my 64MPR.
I could still shoot every day and shoot matches.
Small game hunt if I ever wanted to.
Even more likely I'd keep it as my rifle if I can also have a shotgun and a pistol.

Since I live and hunt in the east I would choose the 243 Win in a Model 70 featherweight as my all purpose single rifle. This is a true multipurpose cartridge capable of taking deer, predators, and varmints with the correct bullets and shot placement.

This was the first center fire caliber I ever owned back in the late 60's and while I have several other calibers and have tried many more this is still my favorite cartridge. I've been shooting it for over 40 years. Once I started reloading I was able to take advantage of the full capability of this great cartridge.

If I had to give up hunting I'd choose the 223 Rem to punch paper due to the low cost, long barrel life, light recoil, and outstanding accuracy potential.
 
Gee, I had no idea that there might be others who were ARless. Maybe we should come out of the closet and start a little club or sumpthin. :)

I've gotten along this far without one (or five) of them. Of course I do have SKS's which are actually made out of wood and steel. And they will shoot 3MOA ---- ALL DAY LONG!!! jd
