The first rest looks almost identical to mine.This is an older rest made by Ken Watrous in Washington state. pm me if you'd like his contact info. Ken made a couple different designed front rests. Mainly made for rim fire benchrest.

Here's pictures of how my top mounts. Is this anything similar to what you have seen? The rest top has 2 screws that hold it on to the brass bushing then the bushing is held onto the shaft with a single set screw. I was leaning towards a Randolph machine top, I might have to give Butch a call also.In my experience tops only come 2 ways. 3/4 inch or 1 inch. I know that all the joy stick rests are different, but all the rests Ive fooled with its all in the threads going in to the base.
