Ideal scope for F-Class

What would be the Ideal scope for F-Class. I have a Remington 700 modified for single shot in 308. The barrel is a Benchmark 26 inch 3 grove 1 in 11 twist which should be optimal for 175 gr. VLD's. I have a bager 20 MOA rail.

On another forum,long-range.com) several members of the U.S. F-Class team advocate the Nightforce BR models over the NXS... citing 1/8 minute clicks, especially w/ the upcoming 1/2 moa X-rings), finer parallax adjustment, and sufficient elevation/windage range if teamed w/ a 20 moa base. Not as 'cool' looking so not as many CDI points, but the BR models are a good chunk cheaper as well.

It's a little funny. I have a Leupold 8-25x LRT.

This Sunday I was shooting a friend's rifle, which has a 12-42 NSX,sweet!). When the targets came up he saw me adjust the parallax, going all the way to the zero stop first and then work up to it. Then I added 3 clicks of windage by going forward 6 and back 3.

My friend turned to me and said "what the hell are you doing?". I said, you mean you don't have to zero out your parallax first? I also explained to him that my Leupold will NOT reliably give just one or two clicks because of lash, so I just automatically go past my intended setting a couple clicks every time, then go back.,e.g. to add 7 clicks, I'll go forward 10, then back three)

He just looked at me and said dryly. This is a Nightforce, one click is one click.

FYI, when setting the side parallax on a Leupold you definitely want to go back to the stop first. I learned that the hard way. If you don't, when you get the minimal parallax you may not be at the point of best target focus.

I'll say this. It was a pleasure using the NF, and I will get a 12-42x when my funds permit. 42x is NOT too much for 600 yards, even when mirage is running.

When the new targets come out I think you'll want a 1/8 click scope like a Nightforce BR or Burris Black Diamond.

You'll be needing more fine tuned adjustments. Remember that 1/4 clicks at 1000 yards are basically 2.5-3 inches. 5 inch bullseye and any load varience you might be missing that X a bit unless your good at holding.

Depends on how much money you got to spend. Nothing wrong with a 6-24x50 Burris BD. I still think they are a heck of a value for F-class. You'll need a + moa rail though...maybe a 30 since your shooting a .308.

when you changing stuff around you might want a more range friendly caliber like a 6.5.

You'd be amazed how much better they are in the wind over a .308.
