Ideal 300 yard caliber?

What HE^^ said. I have both a 6.5 X 55 mm SE anad a 6mm BR. The 6mm BR is stupid simple to get great accuracy out of ( get nice small groups out of 108 Bergers pushed by 30.1 grains of Varget).

I'd say it is REAL HARD to go wrong with the 6mm BR...can't think of any reasonable reason to not go with it....unless you are dead set on shooting Elk at 1200 yards or something!

Just build a 6 dasher and never look back.

300 yards, why not a bolt gun in 223. Get a 7twist barrel chambered for 80-90 grain bullets.

Ha! I’ve built or bought 10 guns since 2018 trying to find the answer to this question! Trying something new is half the fun!

I know this is out of left field, but what about the 6mm-223 aka 6x45? I have one in a Cooper and it is light recoiling, very accurate, will easily handle 300 yards and has a large variety of bullets for it, just pick your twist rate. AR or bolt, it’s a fun cartridge.
