The Idaho Senate has approved a plan that will allow up to 90% of the state's wolves to be killed in a move that animal welfare campaigners warn will allow them to be killed "without limits."

The bill was approved Wednesday in a 26-7 vote and is designed to cut the wolf population from 1,500 to around 150, The New York Times reported, meaning it will now pass to the State House of Representatives.

Republican Idaho Sen. Mark Harris, who sponsored the bill, said during a debate on the Senate floor, per AP: "These wolves, there's too many in the state of Idaho now. We're supposed to have 15 packs, 150 wolves. We're up to 1,553, was the last count, 1,556, something like that. They're destroying ranchers. They're destroying wildlife. This is a needed bill."

The bill would give Idaho's Wolf Control Fund an extra $190,000 to pay contractors to kill wolves, the New York Times reported, in addition to an existing $400,000 budget, with restrictions removed on the number of wolves a hunter is allowed to kill.

The legislation was first presented to the House in February.

The original error was eliminating Great Plains Wolves, an important part of ecological balance. The second and worse error was importing a non-native sub-species, MacKenzie Valley Gray Wolves, and calling it "reintroducing". These non-native Grays are big, aggressive and breed prolifically. They were well adapted to harsh arctic conditions but do not fit well in the temperate climate of lower 48 states.

Why is it they always pay a contractor to do it ,it should be like coyotes here in Tennessee no limit no season and let the people hunt them year round not only will it do the job but it will save a lot of money and hunters can enjoy hunting them

If we make a couple of very minor adjustments to your description we might have; “big mouthed, aggressive, and blather prolifically” we have just accurately described almost every lib-tard politician, rino, and green-weenie out there.

Alot of people don't know how much time and effort it takes to kill a wolf trapping or with a gun. Its why years ago they resorted to poison, but that will never happen.
Trying to compare killing a wolf to a coyote is like comparing an apple to an orange.

In Mn it is a full time job for several USDA employees, they only get about 260 "problem" wolves a year. Our democrat senators were proud they were able to "obtain" the funding to continue the "program". Yet a lottery permit license fee program for hunting and trapping is opposed by the "community" that elected the demturds. We how have a lieutenant governor who talks about worshipping the wolf. So far she has not demanded the ending of the union wolf trappers jobs.

So they know exactly how many wolves they have and it takes a “paid” contractor to kill them?
How about: Bait pile, day time cameras, thermal cameras and and 15 lbs of tannerite ( or other)
Or: bait pile, shooting bench in a blind at 600 yds and a 6.5 CM ( no other calibers allowed) joking!! And pick their butts off.
Or: Drone with full auto “assault rifles!”

Biologists like to talk about wolves (and other species) being part of the balance of nature. They have fought against exterminating these species since the turn of the century. But, lo and behold none of these bright shining stars of intelligence has realized just how drastically man has disrupted the balance of nature and established a newer balance.

I was more talking about seasons and laws about hunting not necessarily comparing the two animals

I have been told that the race of wolves used for repopulation of the northern tier states were northern Canada wolves which are bigger , more aggressive and eat more than the original races. Causing more damage to the populations in our lower 48.

You should cone out and get some. I hear them very often but see them almost never. I've had one close enough to scare the crap out of me... but never a shot. I typically shoot 20 plus coyotes per year.

They are certainly not the same.

Reading is fundamental. Please read what he wrote instead of trying to make a completely wrong point:

Nowhere did he compare the wolf to a coyote, just the seasons and limits.
