I'd like to buy a BR rifle stock

There are actually a lot of stock makers right now

Ronnie Milford- don’t know wait time
X-Ring-9 months
Cerus-long wait
Jason Avila- short wait
southwest action works
McMillan-Bruno’s has in stock
Some guy in Italy on Facebook (AS?)
Dimar stocks in Ukraine-in stock onnhis website

Other option is a duplicate

Unless I’m mistaken none of the above are making sr br stocks.

I want to build a 30br benchrest rifle. After looking around I see that stock prices are pretty high.

So I'm looking for a stock maker that could make a stock for my project that I could finish and save some money. It would be nice to buy something inletted but again money is my biggest concern. That and weight of the stock is extremely important.

Does anyone know of a person that is trying to start up a stock making business and his prices haven't gotten out of hand?

Thanks to all who answer, I appreciate it.

Lee
If money's a issue you might be best off putting a add in the classifieds, buying used, and making it work.
My question is are you building a lv or hv gun?

I know of 4 BR stock makers at pretty well cover the firing line. Bob Scarborough and he's atlease 2 years out.Bob scoville and he won't even give you a tentative date. Then there is Louis Bengivenni who bought all of Terry Leonard stuff to make wood stocks and he's a year plus. Then there the new guy Jeremy Mataya. Jeremy is who makes my stocks and he's absolutely a craftsmans. I own 2 of his stocks and they shoot and tract as good if not better the other 3 mentioned.

Has anyone here sent money and/or gun parts to/from Canada lately and NOT ended up completely ripped off?
Try going the other direction sometime, and see how it feels!
We have to wade through all the laws of what the States will allow to be exported, and then shipping across the border is unbelievable.
If I order a $100 USD part off of Numrich or Brownell's, I can expect the final cost to be well over $200 CAD, if they will ship it at all.
Midway, among many others, won't ship to Canada at all.

Thanks for trying Mike. We really do need a source for good stocks that are not astronomically high in price. I think I’m going to get myself a Felso Composites. I had a nice email exchange and I’m assured getting the stock in my hands won’t be a problem. Didn’t talk lead time, but that isn’t my first priority.

All that's needed for that to happen is to penalize all the other competitors that have played by the rules.

That'll work well.

The rules don't work. Don't be surprised when your sport doesn't exist anymore because you were sticking to rules from a bygone era. It's not a sound business plan for the future.

If you actually knew me, you'd know I'm very much in favor of meaningful rules changes in SR Benchrest. :) In fact, one of the changes I advocate is a class that allows the style of stock you sell.

Until then, we have actual rules we have to operate within with these guns. That's Lee's situation right now and is what he asked about. I'm running down several leads right now to make this happen as are several others. I'm confident that we, as a group, can get him set up with a stock that fits the rules as they exist.

As a barrel supplier, a good business plan would seem to be insuring the viability of all shooting sports that might be an outlet for your wares by your support as a member. As an NBRSA and IBS member, you can bring forward possible rules changes and have them voted on. I'm not sure how the UBR handles these things but they already have a class that the stock rules are open on. Another market for you.

Jump on it. The water is fine, friendly and fun. :) -Al

I don't see much of a future in shortline benchrest until someone within that group with some "juice" has a meaningful discussion about the fact that almost no one is supplying the the tools necessary to get started in their sport.

This will need to come from somebody on the inside not someone on the outside.

Frankly, I'm kind of surprised that it's not top of the list of things to discuss these days. But at the same time, the gun community is largely playing ostrich to the actual events around them.

I do appreciate the positive comments. Believe it or not I'm not saying any of these things to be mindful about the things I sell. I'm just noticing trends.

I saw the same thing in my very own club, where a lot of the older guys are still obsessed with having matches based on old CMP rifles. The matches were started back when you could get a CMP rifle dirt cheap. Well now those days are gone. They've been gone for a very long time. But they don't want to change the matches so what used to be a $300 rifle to get started is now a $2,000 rifle. But they don't really care that no one can afford the rifle they need to come shoot the match. They like the match "the way it is" .

Like I said it's not a sound business plan for the future.
