I really wanted to stay out of this. Too many of the posts on the 1,000 Yard Agenda Item thread, and Stanley's, regarding the election for Vice President have been combative and nasty in tone. I haven't used the exact titles for those threads......we know what and where they are.
This has become a political battle, sometimes void of sound reasoning and good manners. Not to disparage the fine opinions expressed by many on both sides of the matters. I will leave that as it is.
However; a political battle it has become. I sent the following today, to my email list for match results at St. Louis. In an attempt to put it in the most basic terms and explain my reasoning.
I humbly submit a copy of that email:
Hi All,
I want to draw your attention to an election on the ballot and ask for your support. Jim Cline was appointed to fill the remaining term of Mr. Cascarino, the vice president in charge of scheduling, upon Mr. Cascarino's retirement late last year. Jim was a pleasure to deal with and extremely helpful to me in scheduling the 2019 matches at St. Louis.
He is being opposed by a Write-In candidacy for Jeff Green. I believe this is a Sour Grapes reaction, by some members of the Virginia 1,000 Yard Club and the Harry Jones range, because Harry Jones was not awarded the 2019 1000 Yard Nationals. They hope that if Jeff Green is elected to Vice President, that it will allow their small membership a disproportionate influence over the governance of the IBS.
Jim Cline is doing a fantastic job of managing the scheduling and contract administrations for the IBS matches. It is a very time consuming and complicated job. I urge you to vote for Jim Cline as Vice President.
Respectfully,
Steve Wilson
So, that was the email that I sent out a few hours ago. I really do believe that some members of VA1K, and some others, are doing everything they can to subvert the will of the majority of 1,000 yard shooters, and to implement their agendas....to their sole benefit.
In closing, I ask you to support Jim Cline.
Thank you for reading,
