I wish CZ would bring back their best sporter,,,,Model 453

Have you ever seen a CZ453 Varmint Precision Trainer - Suppressor Ready? Also known as a MMTCS (More Money Than Common Sense). No, they never made one. I did using a Manners stock, threaded barrel, tactical bolt handle, plus DIP bottom metal and other DIP stuff. Definitely not a hunting rifle.

I have a 453 sporter I rebarreled with a Mullerworks barrel. Factory barrel was rough as a cob but with the MW barrel it shoots right alongside my Anschutz. I wasn't able to get a great trigger pull without adjusting the 'set' feature out of it and making it a crisp single stage.

I've got a 453 and I'm not a real fan of the set trigger in that rifle. I cant get used to the big jump to the rear when the sear breaks with the set trigger. I've got a Rifle Basics that I've been meaning to install that is supposed to give you a 1-3½ lb single stage trigger.

The rifle shoots great. It shoots ½ inch off of a Harris bipod at 50 yards with SK Jagd Rifle Match.

View attachment 1054822 Luckily, I found one used at a local gunshop and it has become my all-time favorite. I have owned Remington 513T's, Remington 541-S, and T, SAKO Finnfire, and CZ 452. Of all these premium rimfires, the CZ 453 out performs them all. For those not familiar with the 453, it is basically a 452 with a single-set trigger. This trigger is a real jewel (Not Jewell) and can be used in a regular mode and can be set as low as a crisp 2# and by pushing forward it can be set to about 8 oz. It is very accurate and functions flawlessly.....why would CZ discontinue such a fine rifle. Unlike the 455, the 453 has threaded receiver/barrel. Good shooting....James
Old thread, but I wish they would bring back the 452. No plans with their new rimfires.

I have a several 452’s. My favorite is a 452 American. John Langley recently installed one of his triggers in it. It breaks at about 1.5-1.8 oz. It shot the best 6x5 target I’ve ever shot. I don’t own a custom gun. This was before the new trigger. Later today I am inletting a MDT chassis I have for it to fit the new trigger. 2B7FC6F1-0E8B-4B13-A1A8-0F9FC9A90ECC.jpeg

I have a CZ 453 sporter in 17HMR, great little rifle. CZ has been awesome with all the different configurations they have offered in their rimfire and centerfire rifles. They seem to be streamlining their centerfires, hopefully they keep their rimfire variations. Just picked up an MTR and a a premium, 457s in 22LR. Both shoot very well.

Just a '2 cents' worth on the 453. I have only had 2 CZ's, both .17hmr. A 457 Varmint, and a 453 Varmint Fluted barrel (sold). The 457 walked all over my 453. Barrel lottery.....perhaps. Better trigger after a trigger spring swap on the 457.....definitely, cost me about $1.25. The 457 was purchased new with the horrible Boyd's At-One stock and was restocked with a CZ USA varmint stock. Trigger spring and stock were the only mods and the factory replacement stock was NOT bedded, just a bolt in swap. Ergonomics of easy bolt removable and replacement.......457 hands down. For usability and accuracy, the 457 was a true winner over the 453.

If you are married to the more 'classic' CZ's, including the ridiculous 'wrong' way safety , then by all means, pine for another 453. If you want a rifle that has better 'workability', increased accuracy, and a better aftermarket support for accessories, 457 would be my choice. Rifles are meant to be shot. Rifles with poor mechanical features, such as not easy bolt removal and replacement, difficult triggers, and in my case......poorer accuracy, have no place in my inventory. I am a shooter, not a collector. JMO
