I want to start shooting again.

I know a muzzle brake will reduce recoil (at the expense of making more noise), but I've never heard that a suppressor will affect recoil. Is that true?
A suppressor adds weight therefore it must reduce recoil. Also, the high pressure gases are trapped momentarily by a suppressor which cause the felt recoil to be spread out across a longer period of time as the trapped gases are dissipated. Suppressors have a beneficial impact on felt recoil although not as much as a well designed muzzle brake.

Thanks guys. I'm not going back to the shotgun, it's for deer only now. I am going to look at the pad system you all spoke about. I don't want to add much weight to my gun, because the thing I really like about my AR is the balance it has. When I change position I'm able to get back on target because the gun fits and balances so nicely. I'm asking for a jacket for Christmas. I might try the pad with the jacket, will have to see. I'm not very good at self regulation. I get pi$$ed off when my disease or body keep me from doing things, and often go past where I should do I'm going to invest in the padding. I haven't said anything to my son yet. I'm going to surprise him when he comes home for break. Last time he saw me I had difficulty loading and releasing the mag. Now I practice every couple days doing mag changes, stock adjustments, even loading my mags. I want to take him to the range and surprise him.

Old girl still has some tricks
