I want a new hotrod - 22creedmoor

I'm thinking about a new rifle for the dog patch. Considering a 22creed but curious to know how well can hits be spotted from a 14-16lb bench gun??

I want to see the carnage and produce maximum splatter factor without too much fussing with brass. Does the 22creed and 53gr VMAX deliver?

I have a new 22 CM haven’t shot it yet but I have an 8 twist and will be shooting the 75 ELDM & 80.5 Berger bullets . I’m waiting for rings that I ordered.now just received my scope NF 5.5 x 22 x 50

It will definitely deliver but it will be spinning high RPMs if your pushing that much powder you would be better to push a heavier bullet .

22 Creedmoor is probably the most popular caliber I make now. Even more than the 6br.

I hadn't noticed anyone complaing about the barrel life... Which seems to be the most popular subject on the interwebs these days, but doesn't seem to bother my customers. They just go shooting.

Generally, folks who want a new "hot rod" of any type aren't particularly concerned about the gas mileage or in this case barrel life.

If those new 62gr ELD-VT bullets will survive the RPM's a 8tw 22 Creed will produce that would probably be my first choice followed by the 75 or 80gr ELD-M. I think the higher velocity you'd get with the 62's would likely overcome it's slightly lower BC of the 75's.

I have a single shot action and most of the build components ready to go. Just need to decide on a chamber for the prefit. 12twist 22-250 would probably be plenty, but lack of brass is a downer right now. 20practical is another consideration, how's the splatter with the 20p?

He Feller, I have a couple of them and they are spectacular and you can watch it hit. If you get the right reamer you can pick up range brass and run it through a 223 sizer with a 20 neck bushing and go shoot. They are a string to 300yds . From my experience an 11 twist is the best for 32gr through 40gr.... John

If you're wanting in that size right now you could also go with a 22 Xc, but 22 Creedmoor definitely has the most brass

I hunted groundhogs with a 22-243AI for a few years. It was amazingly accurate. After 1,000 rds I had the barrel set back and rechambered in 22-243 (plain). The rifle was just as accurate after the setback. The change in harmonics dictated a change in bullets but it still shot lights out.

FWIW - I'm building a 22 Creed now. I've got a 7.5" twist Bartlein that I intend to shoot with the Berger 85.5 LR bullets.

My vote is for a 22BR or variation of.
Buddy was shooting 22CM with heavies still less than 2000 rounds before it was done. He likes it enough he is on his 6th barrel.
