To be correct Vista Outdoors (Current Alliant supplier) does not make any powder and is the one that canceled future shipments. They distribute powder just like Hodgdon. It is likey Federal that does the distribution, as in the past. Federal is being spun off with the other ammunition companies to the Czechs. Vista Outdoors likely losing the ability to supply powder if Federal is the actual packager/distributer. Vista Outdoors has said in the past they won't out of the shooting sports market.
It remains to be seen how the new owner will choose to handle this part of the business.

Problem is, I really really want to shoot. And my kids are getting into Highpower now and I want them to shoot as we need some more shooters on the firing line. And I didn’t have the money back then to buy crates of powder and primers like a lot of people on the forum here. So… I’m stuck paying stupid prices now, unless someone wants to start donating from their stockpiles……
So pick another hobby until these manufacturers and wholesalers start feeling the pain and hurt of not being able to screw us anymore.
In the meantime, if you are hurtin that bad for a jug of powder and some primers, there`s a few of us kind ole souls still left in this world that would help a fella out if you really needed it.

Funny how these shortages go back and forth as to what is available. I remember when VV powders were not available, and everyone was switching to other powders in frustration.
My thoughts exactly. The prices they are asking for their powder is ridiculous. I just started using Vitahvouri powders and really like them. I have always heard good things about it in the past, but they used to be the most expensive! Boy, have times changed! Lol.

What red dirt said! When the primer shortage was a year old, a buddy got me cci 43s for AR-15. Their cost was forty bucks a thou. Most places were getting ninety plus. I had PLENTY of federal and cci match primers, just didn't want to burn em up shooting pigs from a heli. They are RAPING US! Stop buying everything that hits the shelves and the price will go back down!
IMHO, we have three things working against cheaper ammo or components: 1. Military needs take priority, 2. More shooters 3. A degree of hoarding. I don't have a solution as these companies are not going to ramp up production unless the expected sales/profitability would justify the expenditures. Eventually, one or more of these users will back down their demand and supply will support a price decline. In the interim, expect a decent amount of price gouging.
