I think you can say I am honestly obsessed when I woke up after...

major surgery (in my case knee replacement) and my first thoughts were centered on a new stock for my 6br. I came home after 3 1/2 days, ordered the stock and then 500 95 grain bullets from Otto Weber. :'(

you also have to have something to do while that knee heals. you can prep brass, load it, shoot it, load it again. the list goes on and on. hope you knee heals up, best of luck.

I once busted two ribs and the first thought in my mind was, "Dammit, now I'm gonna have to take a month off from bjj!" (Not exactly shooting related, but the point is we all have our obsessions and there's nothing wrong with them)

John I am so glad your surgery went well.As I remember it was cancelled at first and you just got your gun backin time to test fire it before you went in. I"ll bet now that the joint is gone it already feels better.Remember to do your therapy,Think, squeeze ,recoil.LOL When I went into surgery last time my surgeon introduced me to the guy with the knockout hammer and as he was putting me to sleep we were all talking guns in the OR and my ortho doctor brings it up everytime I go there,as a matter of fact I am going there today on a follow up and will probably have to have my left shoulder done next. Anyways glad to hear all is well. Hope your recovery is speedy to get you back to the bench. Jon

I had my left shoulder reconstructed in 2007 (the sling shoulder) It was a tough surgery and after going through three physical therapists, it took 2 1/2 years to get it back into decent shape. Both thumbs and the right wrist were also redone. What's next? The left knee? I hope not.

You have to have something to look forward in life! If you have that you can get through anything.

John, glad to see that you came through it well. My right shoulder (sling shoulder for me) is in constant pain and I can see the need building... Best of luck for a speedy recovery on this one and come down to shoot sometime!

I hear ya.
I am 2/3 of the way through radiation and chemo treatments fighting head and neck cancer. It's tearing me up on how I'm gonna get something built and running for the matches this year.

My buddies say I can just shoot theirs, but that just won't do. I'm 44 and I plan on beating this.

I had a knee replaced about 8 years ago and was playing golf about two months too early.
I think being OCD may be a prerequisite with these type of sports.

If you need any prayer you came to the right place.I will pray for you and your recovery. I hope you have the best doctor as well.My neighbor has lymphoma and I am praying for him as well. Keep a positive attitude and get to deciding what gun you want to build. This will give you hope.I chopped a nerve off in my arm in the eighties and all but given up that I would ever have use of my arm, that was until I met DR Usama Sbitany in rochester ny and he specializes in head and neck cancer as well.He is one of the greatest micro surgeons in our area. If for some reason you need him give me a pm and I will give you his number. I have nothing but hope for you and John ,Jim. Keep up the faith!!

John, be sure to rehab that baby all the way through. It will pay in the end.

jon, thanks

God bless, Jim

John -
I'm new here, don't know you, but also just had surgery....total right hip replacement a couple of months ago. Like you, I've used my 'down-time' wisely; just finished up scoping a new-to-me Cooper M38 in 20VT, formed, prepped and annealed 450 cases for it, and now ready to hit the rat fields as soon as all this dang snow goes away.

Hang in the bud, be sure to do ALL your PT (physical torture ;) ), and I'm hoping for a full recovery for us both. :) I wish you the very best.

I told my wife recently that with all the titanium in me now, they could get a good start on building a F-16!

I live in Albany, Oregon, but I have shot at Tri-County, Estacada, Douglas Ridge and Medord. (and Albany, of course) If you ever travel to these ranges please introduce yourself. I would be happy to meet you. I shoot high power and prone matches, but any shooting at a bull's eye is good stuff. ;D

A fellow high power shooter I know well recently had hip replacement and he was told he was done shooting from the sitting position - Likewise I was told I would not be able to shoot kneeling anymore.
