I LIVE IN NEW YORK STATE/LAST DAY TO REGISTER?

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
Sould I register or not? I am sick to my stomach with worry as the local police know what I have somewhat due to one of my kids getting in trouble with the law years ago and they had to look in my hobby room and saw all of what I had at the time.

DO NOTHING! Unless the local had ATF with them and you were the topic of their inquiry, I wouldn't do squat. You'd be doing more damage to yourself now by getting your name on a list, if you already aren't.

Alex

If you're talking about AR's, unless you like feeling sick to your stomach make them compliant with new stock less pistol grip, locked mag release or register. Risking arrest and or confiscation are the alternatives. No reason to voluntarily live in fear. Life's too short.

Jon, I know it is a difficult thing to do, >> But I would pick up and move. I did in '78 and have not regretted a moment since... If you do not, you are risking jail. Then you WILL move but to some place you don't want to be...

You think they can get 1 million folks registered in a day Jon? I thought you said you sold those guns before FFL transfer laws were in effect?

I think a sensible solution is to move the guns to another state temporarily, if you have a relative in Pa or someplace that you feel safe taking them too. I have another way that I would use but won't discuss it online, but I would not comply with this order, once registered they can pick it up whenever they decide you can't own it anymore.

I would not begin to tell another man to disobey a law. I would however say, that I'm guessing there were plenty of people in Nazi concentration camps that wish they had not registered their guns. I personally feel the law in NY is unconstitutional, not that it matters.

If you are truly concerned about legality, posting about it on the internet for everyone to see is a bad idea. I would take down this thread and do some soul searching. It is easy for us to tell you to move, but that decision is yours to make.

If it makes you feel any better Jon, Thomas Jefferson did NOT say the above. Another mythical quote by Jefferson that was debunked long ago.
Though we don't agree with the ruling, remember what ALL justices agreed upon in the Heller case.
"The states retain the right to reasonable legislation". This legislation is obviously up to the legislature in NY. I sympathize with you! Moving isn't that hard. My wife and I discussed, and made a decision to move out of CA. last year. We'll never regret it. We could have made many excuses to stay there, but our move to PA. was the wise decision.

I sympathize with some folks in California, New York , New Jersey, Illinois and the like . But if you can not live your life with out hiding something then It is time to move to friendlier Ground. People in those states have large urban areas of Bought votes to make it impossible to slow the changes the" Progressives" want. A move gives you a clear perspective on things .
I moved out West 5 years ago, and when I return to my home town , I feel like an illegal alien. I am more comfortable most anywhere then the area that I grew up has become.

Just to clarify, I wasn't, either.

California and NYC (under the Sullivan Law), too! After all, registration list were used in both of those places to confiscate firearms. California simply decided, "OOPS! We were wrong, and the guns we said you could keep as long as you registered them are now banned" -- and then used those registration lists to confiscate guns.

I really feel sorry for you,I don't know what I would do in your shoes. You have my sympathies.Good luck in making your decision.

Although I do not know you I have read many of your very informative comments on posts here. I don't see you as a member of the "sheeple" . Put your possessions in a safe place. That will give you time to contemplate your next "move". Good luck Jon, and best regards.

Jon, I feel for you and those like you. It's a shame that you have to deal with the stress and anxiety of a decision like that. These politicians are sworn to uphold the constitution.... nowhere does it say they should change it or go against it. I wonder when we will all be fed up enough to make a stand.

Very very tough call....my prayers are with all of you out there.

If anything happens to me with the police conducting raids,I want you all to know that you are real friends and I appreciate your support.I have no money to fight with a lawyer so if anyone knows a constitutional lawyer,I may be needing one.I am a man that doesnt break laws in general and have commited no real crimes in my life but after doing some research,my own physician could say 1 sentence and I would loose my retirement.I invested in guns to sell one day to support me as I get older, but if for some reason this state says I am unfit for any screwey reason, they will take all of what I have including family heirlooms.I cannot tell you how nervous I am with this current administration. They are on a witch hunt.As a matter of fact right now they want to give free college to help felons become better criminals.I never ever thought I would see the day where our constitution was completely wiped out.I love my country and support our armed forces.God bless this country and its patriots no matter whom they are today or tomorrow. We shall see in a couple days.
