I like to work!

I started a new house a few weeks ago. It is not an average house, it is 39'5" from the basement slab to the plywood on the roof. My forklift reaches 42' but cannot set anything on the flat roof. There are numerous steel beams in the first floor, and the second floor, and columns that go from the bottom to the top. 6000 sq ft of living space is all it is, so not that big, but it has an elevator.
I get to the job a few minutes before 7:00, but it is still dark. I have to use a light to find the key to my job boxes. I push lunch to 12:30 or 1:00. When the afternoon sun is nearly to the ridge line, and the temperature drops like a rock, I know its time to go. But, I just want to get one more little part finished. My back hurts, my hands sore, and I am sunburned, but I love it. 3 weeks in, I've got the second floor built, steel for the roof is being set on November 5th. I am hoping to have the roof sheathed by Thanksgiving, December 1 at the latest before the real snow starts.
I wake up with my back stiff, and it takes the hour drive to the job to loosen up a bit, then another hour to get fully up to speed. The snow and heavy clothes slow the process to full productivity. But, once I get going, I am on a roll. I put down an entire unit of 3/4 ply myself yesterday, along with all the layout and keeping the guys going. I used to be able to do a unit of ply and then go home and work in the woods, now its just the ply, and then a couple beers after the drive home.
I pride myself on being able to produce one of these with very minimal tolerances. And, getting it done in a short period of time. I am sore, my back hurts, my hands are beat up.
But, it feels good.

Yes sir , the doing it for you fairy hardly ever shows up , something I have to deal with every day these days.... Just like most people that aren't millionaires..... Grin and bear it.... That way you owe nobody anything.... This I learned after losing everything in a forest fire.... One day you have everything , the next nothing.... But my broken down old man a$$ did it by my self , all the friends in the world till YOU need something.. I made it through that and you will make it through this.... If you can try and enjoy it.... At least nobody is shooting at you while you're doing it...lol... It could be worse....

Mindset and work ethic is a great combo that every employer seeks (and are part of most successful entrepreneurs). Definitely need more people with those qualities!

Just take care of that back, because one day you’re going to want to enjoy other things later on. The cost/benefit ratio changes later in life.

Having a purpose, mentally and physically able to accomplish same. . . These are the Good Old Days my friend.
Count yourself among the the blessed as I, myself am living large in a very small way and enjoying every moment. I actually hate to go to bed as that means the day is over......and I want to do more.
Life is good - eh?

It has 4 bedrooms. The upper floor is the master as well as the kitchen and living room. Right now it does not look like much, once the roof is on it will seem towering.
I've been framing since I was 14. I enjoy it, but I push really hard, I only do one or two a year.

Is this your own house or are you building it for someone else? I built a pole barn myself a few years ago(except 40' trusses and concrete) and im feeling like building something else these days- Good to see your out there "doin it"

Work is work, I cleared brush for Sletton township when I was younger and it got done or you didn’t get paid. I was young and didn’t creak and hurt in the morning and night but you don’t start a job without a plan to finish it.
Sorry, didn’t mean to suggest you haven’t done the work

I like to work at Hunting and Fishing and Shooting.
I would not work on anything else one more day if I didn’t need the money for the above.
