sorry, already chamfered them, it was just like someone would turn from the base of the mouth to the top and stop a centimeter from top. (that is exaggerated but you should get the picture).Pictures would be helpful…
When I got my Alpha brass they were trimmed to a very consistent OAL. However, apparently from the trimming process they did leave a distinct burr on the outside and inside of the case mouth. If it's those burrs you're talking about, it's from their trimming process. So, likewise, I just chamfered the cases AND deburred the case mouths and all was good.My first foray with Alpha 6PPC brass, at the top of the cartridge mouth is "rough" if you feel along the mouth it is rough on the exterior, I've chamfered it and it is okay but just wondering what would cause this in the manufacturing?
Thanks,
Yes, I normally don't trim until the 3rd firing, on these I just did enough to get rid of the burr. I'll complete the trimming after the 3rd firing. When I got my Alpha brass they were trimmed to a very consistent OAL. No turn baby!! they are a beautiful .270 loaded round!! .273 chamber! You gonna turn the necks or shoot them no turn.
I’m gonna turn the necks and try it in my .268 chamber and if it holds up and shoots good I may get a reamer for it.No turn baby!! they are a beautiful .270 loaded round!! .273 chamber!
I noticed the same thing on my Alpha PPC brass. Chamfering took care of it.My first foray with Alpha 6PPC brass, at the top of the cartridge mouth is "rough" if you feel along the mouth it is rough on the exterior, I've chamfered it and it is okay but just wondering what would cause this in the manufacturing?
Thanks,
Let me know how that goes and I'll do the same for youI’m gonna turn the necks and try it in my .268 chamber and if it holds up and shoots good I may get a reamer for it.
It’ll be on up in the summer. I’m gonna shoot last years barrel and brass the first few matches and put new barrel on about first of June and try the Alpha brass with it.Let me know how that goes and I'll do the same for you
LOL that is exactly what I'm doing. I'm shooting the Speedy gun #1 with the Borden BRMXD and the barrel had over 1600 rounds, when it surrenders (probably pretty soon) I'll change to the other gun. It’ll be on up in the summer.
