I hate a thief

Back on the 13th when 21st century had there special I had ordered one of there priming tools a primer pocket uniformed and a couple shell holders for my dad as a Christmas gift. When the package arrived it felt very light when I lifted it. Then I noticed this.

My stomach got really sick as of all the years buying and selling I've never had anything stolen.

So I carefully opened the box

And of course nothing...

So I carefully pulled out everything to make sure nothing was left and of course not even a shell holder.

So much for Christmas and of course I'm awaiting to hear back from 21st century. I'm now it's not there fault so I'm guessing I'm out nearly 200.00

Just had to vent.

Did you show that box to the PO? Postal inspectors are some hot-shit cops and they do not like anyone messing their rep.It is necessary, they are fighting for their jobs. FWIW, Tom.

What did 21st century say,I would think they would replace it because it was definetely insured.

I hope that 21st Century will cover that. They should have insured the entire amount, if they didn't then they should replace it anyway. I don't buy anything from anybody unless they insure to full replacement. The bottom line is only the shipper can file a claim. I'd like to know if they come through on this. Please let us all know.

Although the low-life that swiped it has no idea what it is, if they grabbed the packing slip I suppose it tells them enough to ebay or Craigs List it.

Insurance info should be on the shipping label.

Also, it looks like maybe this package was on the bottom of a heavy load. It's very possible the box split open and the contents spilled out, just maybe. These boxes bounce around in a semi trailer for hours. Sometimes the sorting equipment causes damage. On all USPS boxes, they tell me to reinforce the package with shipping tape.

The shipper is responsible for filing the claim, so contact 21st Century ASAP. I would also bring the package to the local Post Office for inspection.

I have lost a few shipment contents myself in the past.

I bet the senders company name was a give away as to what may be in the box and someone knew what that name meant! That box was ripped open at it's weakest point. That is not a burst from pressure or from being tossed around. The USPS would have not knowingly delivered it like that without attempting to fix the box and attach a statement to it. Was it dropped off at your door step???

Sorry about the loss. Maybe Sinclaire will replace it for free. After all, you never got it.

James: Just before Christmas I had an order from Mid-South (contained intended gifts) that was "lost" ( actually delivered to the wrong street address/ how do they do something as dumb as that?), immediately contacted Mid-South & dumped the problem in their lap. First thing they said was that they would prepare to ship a replacement order, and would contact the shipper. Package arrived on my porch the next day.

Immediately contacted Mid-South & told them the package finally made it, and they still called back later to confirm that all was O.K.

Just my opinion:

I pack these USPS boxes everyday. I occasionally will have to reopen one. If your very careful, like an experienced shooter/reloader, you can reopen it without causing any damage, then reseal the box. I have done it many times.

I also received many packages everyday. I wonder how some made it. JMO, but it is possible for something heavy that was on top of this package splitting it open. The sorting machines are pretty violent as well. They kick 50 lb pls packages off the belt along with packages like this.

I am not defending anyone, BUT I am also a person who received an empty package like the above, and receives and ships packages everyday.

Is it possible for a person to do this? YES . . . . Is it possible it happened during the shipment process? YES

USPS will reseal the package if it's in the sorting facility and put a letter in the package stating what happened. I have received envelopes crushed in a new/bigger USPS envelope as well. REASON: Sorting equipment damaged the envelope.

Just be prepared. I know some were someone was told their packages were not packaged correctly and the claim was denied! This was on of the big 3 shippers that said this.

There is a FedEx employee who is a member of this Forum. He will gladly tell you what a package goes through during shipment.

You may be correct assuming a person stole these items. I am not denying this. My actual experiences tell me it could be human or equipment abuse as well.

I worked at a US Customs Facility at a FEDEX sort, and they treated every single package like it was their own. I never witnessed anything that looked like a baggage handler for United. Now those guys could sling bags like a discus thrower. Looking at the pics, and I know they are after the fact, but it seems to me if the item fell out on it's own, it would have taken some paper with it. But hard to tell from these pics. +1 on the Postal Police. They love catching thieves in their system, and they are very good at it.

I shipped a guy a bbl in a tube..........they delivered the tube.........uh huh. I wonder who walked out of the sort area with a very stiff leg?

Again, I can only speak for FEDEX in Oakland at the international sort. ALL employees leaving the building walk thru a metal detector again. Same as going into the facility, but reversed when leaving.

Not all theft can be avoided, but it can certainly be kept to a minimum if the buyers and sellers would do their part. And I'm not saying you did anything wrong here. You dealt with a known company and not an individual, so hopefully your claim will be honored and you will not have to eat the loss.

But it never ceases to amaze me how many sellers don't insure the item, nor care much what happens to it after it is out of their hands. I often have to insist that a package being sent to me is NOT left at my door unless I sign for it. Often a seller will use tracking to verify that the package made it to your house, and they feel like they are clear of any further responsibility. I'm so tired of always having to be the only one who cares.

I also placed an order on the Fri 13th sale. Over$300. It was shipped 2nd day by 21st Century. It arrived 3 days late by the USPS. In my panic I tracked the pkg and at that time I noticed that it was only insured for $50. Although I got everything intact I was a bit surprised that they didn't insure for the whole amount. I did not see or was offered the choice of an amount of insurance on their web site. Curious!

Happy New Year to all!!

Please understand I am not taking up for a theif, but after shipping and receiving thousands of packages, I have pretty well seen it all.

FedEx just fired an employee for throwing packages. Someone video taped it and put it on FaceBook. They traced the person down and terminated the person. The USPS terminated an employee for steeling checks. I know one person ships laptops and uses an alais plumbing company return address. He hasn't lost a laptop since doing this.

I have a picture of a barrel tube busted in two, barrel fell out, where it is who knows. Also, the heavy objects will find it's way out of the box first pushing through packing. These shipments takes a pounding in the semi trailers going down the road.

The picture below, one is UPS & one is FedEx. Just an example, but I have plenty more from letter size to large packages. The below boxes were rigid when first shipped.

If a theif is guilty, I have no problem prosecuting them. But there could be another side of the story. At this point, nobody really knows.

Snuggie, the shipper is responsible for shipping and charging enough to cover the products their sending you. You won't be the one coming up short. There also required to package it correctly so you receive it undamaged. If the shipper doesn't package it correctly, they are 100% responsible for the damaged product.

Hi Dennis! Thanks for that. I just was wondering why they did not or won't insure it for the value of the products. Seems contradictory. I mean, if it were lost then they could only have gotten $50. Their products are high quality. Why not back it up with proper shipping insurance?
