I had to show this to my InferNets Buddies...

You have a lot of very nice Ivory my friend…
Jim
Thank you, Due to great confusion spread about by our 4th estate. Alaskan or Siberian Mammoth Ivory Is Completely Legal in about 46 States. So, No doing Doo Dah in those other 4 States. The U.S.Fish & Wildlife has a great presentation about the Cross Grain Patterns displayed after polishing the end grain. . African elephants or Mammoth Ivory fossilized Tusks. Exotic Rare Hard woods get badly treated by our Betters. The old knife builders had piles of good handle materials. I was fortunate enuff to know some great builders that shared more than knowledge. Shout out: to "Cousin Tony" up Alaska. Way back when, he shipped cartons of lots to me. One of his Buddies; Had 3 pounds plus of Black Ivory [Very Dark Brown} I traded him str8 up, gram for gram in a Favorite beef Jerky.. Amazon Delivered ..Thanks, Mike in Ct. Damit ....Some of this material is just lying at the surface in many places. Town Dumps have some old, busted sled runners made from ivory.
