The 226 is one of the best Semi 9mm pistols I ever owned
I was a wheelgun man until I happened across a 226 for a good deal
I had the mentality, being a Bolt gun guy
There was no way a Semi could be as accurate as a Manual Operated wheelgun
Similar to , (a semi auto rifle cannot compete against the consistency of a bolt gun)

I could already shoot pistols well, but when I found I could hit clay pigeons at 50 yds with a
Sig 226 9mm
My wheel guns started sitting in the safe

My dad who was an accuracy buff, and Benchrester, had the same attitude
He never owned a Semi pistol except for his Prized "High Standard .22"
Only because it was accurate.

He came over for a shooting visit (we often went out to shoot Long Range or Benchrest together)
and I said, "Hey check this gun out"
And proceeded to pop clays at 50 yds with it
he kind of watched, wrinkled his eyebrows, and without saying much, I could tell he was doing some serious analyzing.
Within the next month he had bought a couple Semi- Auto pistols, and eventually Got a Sig in .40 cal
He suddenly jumped on the bandwagon with me on semi pistols finding they were very accurate even out to 100 yds,
clays at 50 become rather easy so we had to bump it up to 100 yds to provide a challenge

A 226 will definitely spoil you
A Sig 220 is just as good if you want more caliber
They are a great choice for a 1st Semi, take down easy, clean easy, not complicated etc.
And have very high quality barrels

I agree on the multiples idea. Ive done that with 3 different handgun models.
Agree. Underrated. In this category there’s these, beretta, and CZ, maybe some I don’t know about, hk probably, Old smiths,
Locally I don’t have big gun shops so you get to look at 99 kinds of junk ass striker fired plastic trash and the latest lame hunting rifle.
An all metal hammer fired pistol is the place to be. I want all of them. Even if I have 6.
Plus the sex appeal. Can’t put a price on that.

The fit is what drew me to Sig. When I first started looking for a semi pistol , I had the shopkeeper put one of every brand he had on the counter. I picked up each one and did a blind point at a small patch he had on the wall. The Sig won out. Been using/buying them ever since. Most are the older German ones, with a few German/US ones. The 220 38 Super is my pride and joy though.
There is no shame in having girly hands. If that is what you have you just have to make do with what you got.
