I do Not bye the shortage any longer

I am a dealer. I sell powder, primers and other components as well as dies and cleaning supplies. I have been dealing with a large wholesaler, who only deals with licensed dealers. I called yesterday to order 4 8Lb jugs of powder for 1 customer and 1 8 Lb. jug for a 2nd customer. I was told that the wholesaler was out of stock on Varget, H4198 and Benchmark, and that they couldn't backorder these powders for me. The other powder was HV-100, it was out of stock but, they could backorder that for me. I don't want anyone running my business for me and I don't try to run anyone else's. If that is their policy so be it. They have always been fair and competitive in their pricing. Hoarders are making this situation worse by the day.

Just got home from work and stopped by a reloading shop and cabelas. Varget at both stores. Many many more powders at both stores. Small and large rifle primers at both stores. Lapua and winchester brass at both stores. The only thing they didnt have alot of was bullets. Well.....they had bullets, but not much 22cal, 6mm and 30cal. I been lookin for more 175g SMK's. Seems like the midwest has a decent amount of components.

VaniB sounds like he cant find anything with those angry words >:( >:( If I feel the need to spend my hard earned money on more reloading items then I will.

Just got back from Cabela's. I almost wet my pants when I found not only 22LR available, they actually had four different brands to choose from. You are only allowed 100 rounds per customer but clearly an improvement. Additionally, they had 223, 5.56 and ammo for the AK 47 lovers. Companies have kept product availability low for profitability.

In short, it's getting better but far from what it should be. Powder and bullets were still very limited.

We live in a capitalistic society and opportunism is alive and well. Many gun stores and wholesalers have made substantial profits over the past 6 months price gouging.

My suggestion is simple. Remember the stores and sellers that did their best to provide what product they could at a reasonable price. More importantly, remember companies like Cheaper Than Dirt that squeezed every extra penny they could from their customers.

Cabelas was fair, kept prices reasonable and limited purchases in an attempt to give as many customers as possible a buying opportunity. I will remember.

Stores are limiting the amount one customer can buy. I seen a few stores and online stores do this the past month or so. Thats a good idea IMHO. Everybody get something then.

Many of the wholesalers are limiting quantities we dealers can buy, too. Makes for higher shipping charges, which is part of the price.

The ammo situation must be getting better. Today in the brass buckets at the range I found brass .270, .45 ACP, 9mm & .45 Long Colt. Last month there was never anything reloadable in any of the buckets.

I just drove to pennsylvania and visited a satellite store of my home store and they had quite a bit of powder and cci41's(small rifle for 5.56 or .223) in stock. The only powder they didnt have was h4350.They had lots of shotgun powder and quite abit of accurate, hodgdon, and alliant on hand. They had lots of small pistol in cci and winchester brand.Yes it is getting better. This company is expecting shipment of more powder on the 2nd week of july.I cant wait.
