i should know this but don't you can shoot 6ppc from a 308 bolt face but not the other way around?

Not really a dufuss. If you don't know it's a good idea to ask. The answer is yes....and no. Actually, if you have a boltface that is designed for both you can shoot either one. If the boltface was made for the PPC case only, you're limited to that one. Many, maybe even most of the custom actions these days are made to take either one.
