Dimner
I do believe in Captain Crunch.
For some reason, I figured that thread title sounded funny.
So I need help figuring out what rear bag to get for a guy who is not a bag squeezer. Although, I guess I could learn to squeeze if it gave me the best results. But I have a feeling that if I can get the rifle to sit perfectly at POA without squeezing, I would be better off.
Let's take a step back. I am newer to this discipline. My shooting is basically load development mostly, and shooting at 200-300 yards to learn how to read the wind. This is from a firm bench. I am currently using a Bell and Carlson M40 style stock. 7x57 mauser is my current cartridge of choice. Not interested in magnums. Not sure if recoil is a factor in a bag choice.
My next build is important to take in consideration. I will be probably getting a 30BR or 6mmBR, or a 6.5 Grendel and building it on a stock that can track well at local causal fun competitions as well as work well prone in a field for 600+ yard shooting. I have not chosen the stock yet. It won't be a full fledged benchrest stock, but I think I may go with a butt that is not angled.
I do not shoot free recoil, however I check weld and shoulder with a light touch. I'm using the Caldwell BR front rest.
Is it possible to find a rear bag that will work for both needs? If so, what kind should I be looking at?
