Rear bag

I am shooting a Savage LRPV at club informal bench rest.
It has the factory HS precision stock.
I shoot 6mm BR and use free recoil.
I have a Protektor windage front rest and am not satisfied with the two Protektor rear bags that I have been using.
They are the smaller bags and after every shot I need to reposition the bag forward to get back on target.
I don't know if this condition would be reduced to a point where the fine elevation and windage adjustment could be
used to get back on target using a better bag.
I see the larger rear bags that are expensive and I do not want to spend $250 for a bag and find out it doesn't fit
the rifle stock or that it too needs to be repositioned.
Any advise will be welcome.

Two Time has a good idea. Or spring for an Gdge Gator. Tmmy Mc

Butch, yes the bag is moving and the bags I have were $30-50.
The high end bags I have looked up are $250+-.
My club has just a few of us Geezers shooting for groups and there are no better bags for me to try.
The other guys just push pull their rifle around and I would like a better option.
I don't ever remember seeing anyone using free recoil.
I will try and baby powder the Protektor bag that I have and see if that will allow the rifle to slip
without moving the bag. I also remember hearing about using a dryer sheet in the ears of the bag.
My stock being a varmint stock does not have a flat bottom so if I can get the bag to remain in place
I should be OK.

Relatively new to the 6br myself. Rear bag makes me curse LOTS. I posted a question about rear bag frustrations a while back. One of our competing members recommends cutting up rubber place mats from Walmart to glue the bottom of the rear bag. Use a glue that will let you peel it and replace it regularly.

Is the bottom of your bag flat or does it have a small bell in the bottom. Spacers are made that are hollow in the center. Try squirting your bench with water to give the leather a little grab.

OK,
I got what seems sound advise.
1. Hard sand in the bag.
2. Baby powder the bag for better slip.
3. Sanding screen with grit on both sides to grab the bench and bag.
The bags that I have are hard bottom on one and soft leather on the other so I can work with both.
I will be trying all soon I hope weather permitting.

Good luck! All good advise, the baby powder will work miracles for you! One thought, do one thing at a time, change the sand and add baby powder and I think you'll see a big difference (I know that is 2 steps)!
