hydraulic arm to cycle a single-stage press

Has anyone seen, heard, know where to find pictures, etc... of a setup where someone has attached a hydraulic arm or something to a single stage press, to run the ram?

I was thinking (as I FL-size 1000 pieces of brass) how it would be kind of cool if I had something like that, actuated by a foot pedal... but, I don't really know anything about what I would need to put that together, so I was looking for ideas.

Sounds pretty cool, except for the part where ya activate the ram and still have your finners in the way. Industry would require that you hit "GO" button with both hands probably. Pretty much like a punch press. ;) jd

Youtube will be a good resource for you. This has been done to the extreme with progressive press automation. Very cool to watch.

brokeasajoke....yeah it all starts innocent enough,4 boys here. All grown up.Now they all have equipment of their own.The problem is they come steal my stuff, haha.

I'd use pneumatics.....well,actually no.We have n.i.b. clyinders/valves....too many compressors,airlines,facilities,yadayada.
And,prefer to just sit and pull. But good luck if you decide to try.

Before I shot long range, I shot shotguns for many years. On our Ponsness press we had a hydraulic ram. It's a good thing when it works.....

Just like "ab_bentley", I have hydraulic set ups on my MEC 9000's for shotgun reloading. They cycle with a foot pedal and if you let up on the pedal, the press stops, which would help avoid accident. If you get it set up, you could make money with the design.

I have one of those MEC 9000's and they make short work out of loading shotgun shells. Just want to make sure you don't get carried away and forget to keep the powder jug full.

I had the bug to have a 50 BMG built and decided to build a reloading press for it. I used a hydraulic ram and a small electric power unit with a foot pedal to actuate it. I fabricated the rest of the press in my shop. It works really well, and I still have all my fingers.

Very nice work!

I've watched a lot of videos on that AutoDrive, but I don't see how you can solve the powder charge consistency issue.

True... maybe the other route to consider would be a case feeder for your 550? Supposedly one of the conversions (.45 ACP?) can be modified to *just* clear a .308 case...
