Hunting Grackles!

Wyman Meinzer emailed that he was thinning the population with his suppressed 22RF. He said that they were getting to be very few around, so he brought out his little hand held recorder and found a Grackle's nest and picked up a couple of the baby Grackles and he recorded their squawking. He said it was easy now, just turn the recorder on and put it on the cab of the truck. The Grackles come from far and wide!

Towns are loaded with em, but they won't come to the ranch
Part of an email that Wyman sent a little bit ago.

I shot a couple of grackles this morning to start the day. Damn they are getting harder to find within rifle distance and at a safe angle as to not put a bullet in someone’s yard or house. Wish I could find them like I used to. If I found a nesting site it was game on! Man what fun! I loved busting those big roosters!
Over the past few years I’ve killed around 3,000 of the black bastards!

You ever looked a grackle in the eye in a Wal Mart parking lot? They have the most evil looking eyes of any critter. Kinda spooky. Looking through a scope at them would be better.

I call them winged rats or poo flingers! The young are hatched and in the nests right now and the adults are constantly feeding and cleaning the nests. They fly out of the nest with white gobs of poo in their beaks and it is like a game to them to drop it on our deck and in the pool. I have to get the pressure washer out every couple days and clean the side of our house and deck. Awful vermin!
