Hunting Expenses This Fall

So the cost for out of state elk tag is $700.98 and mule deer is $420.23 but the current cost of fuel is what is making you think twice? I have to laugh when they say how great the hunting in Texas is but I see more TX plates here in CO than any other state in the union. Couldn't you hunt twice as much game for half the cost by staying in your home state?

A lot of guys that go on a hunting trip go for the trip and the guy time, not because the game is better. Pics of my backyard in Kerrville, Texas:

I live in the DFW area. For the first time in years I got a hunting lease. it’s like an hour +10 from my door to the ranch house! I even have access to the Brazos for some sand Bass. There’s Deer, Turkey, Hogs, Duck, Dove and an abundance of Snakes! . Never in my life have owned a pair of Snake boots….. but I do now!
But I can not take anyone else to lease.

So this Is another reason for my kids and I to hunt public lands in another state! We’ve yet to draw a tag in Colorado and that’s ok! I think the OTC Bull Elk tag is a better option. I’m not tied to and particularly hunting unit.
The best part tho. Is I get to spend time with my Sons. No distractions. Just us!
