Maybe it's my monitor but I like to see the hunter's face in these situations! It's a celebration of a successful hunt and deserves to be seen. Great job!

The first half of my adult outdoor life I hunted and fished the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Licenses were always purchased from the hardware store the day we arrived in town. After visiting with the owner we visited the local grocery store to restock our supplies. Then on our way out of town we would stop at the best local watering hole to hear about any reasonable deer reports or fishing hotspots. We might even stay a little longer occasionally to get some of the best tavern food from their kitchen. Then off to the cabin.
This was always close woods hunting, usually in snow which muffles a lot of our movements. I can't remember any shots longer than about 125 yards which is why I often carried a T/C Contender in .30-30 Win. Lots of sightseeing in those woods so it was easy to find a nice comfortable spot to sit for a few minutes in order to see what happening around us. Not every year was successful during the deer season but usually more often than not.
Fishing was excellent since the cabin was on The Chain. Grouse hunting was and still is my favorite time of the year and hunting experience. The Chain straddled both Wisconsin and the UP so we had to have a fishing license for both States. Both obtained from that same hardware store.
Now of course, I apply for tags and wait for the idiots at G&F to fill in with the out-of-staters first and hopefully get drawn for something. Deer has slowed down to about once every 2 or 3 years and Elk is once in 7 to 10 years. Needless to say, I have moved on to hunting in states where tags are easier to get or where I know a rancher/farmer who will sell me a 'trespass fee' ticket for private land. All State rules still apply though. Times they are achangin'!
Thanks for the picture!
