Hunting coyotes

upload_2020-7-8_10-5-53.jpeg

Here’s a young one. Mom shows up a little later. I just put out a lot of dry cat food and dog food. Also put out some cat can food and one sardine in water. Gonna get in the blind right at sunset. Maybe I’ll get another one. Fingers crossed.
Oh, I did put up a driveway sensor. Put black el tape over the red LED. I put the receiver up near my blind. It’s real noisy at this place with an Interstate very close by. So I don’t think the alarm will spook them.

I just dropped the coyote in the picture above. 17 HMR, 110 yds. I’m still in blind. Should I go get the pup or leave it and wait for mom to show? Let me know guys. Thanks

Acklyman you were right. Killed three this evening.

Went to get my hunting blind and feeder and after I loaded up my blind I drove down to the orchard to get feeder and there stands a coyote. Pup about 3:30 pm.
Went to dollar general and got cat food. Went back and hammered this male.

I couldn’t get settled enough to take a shot at one of these.

Better to hold your fire than to miss* and educate them. They'll be back. Keep up the good work!

*Despite what you may see on YouTube, everybody misses once in awhile. And "buck fever" is part of the fun of coyote hunting, so enjoy it!

Thank you sir!! I missed one earlier last night.. he walked within 20 yards of me.. I wasn't ready and bench was not steady..(and yes sir, I got buck fever..) Those buggers stay on the move...They are so much fun to watch and hunt / shoot..

Kill`em all !

Thanks wedgy. Thermal Scope is a Pulsar Thermion XP50.
LOL So we are at ~ $1,000 per dog so far.... When you have a night stalking adversary you need to step up your game and take the fight to him. Good job ! I can't stay up all night because I have to work during the day so I had to invest in high tech also. And of course it is fun to learn a new discipline that could come in handy to hunt other night vermin ....if needed.

Got another one tonight. Only 40 yards in the brush. Ripped a hole on my blind. Not sure if muzzle gas or the bullet.
