How’s it possible to sell a gun with only... rounds?

If it’s not a match gun it’s not hard to keep a low round count. I have a custom i built for deer hunting that has 77 rounds thru it, have had it for 4 years now. I have killed a bunch of deer with it. I have another I just built and have 13 rounds thru it, includes break in, load development, 350 and 600 yard zero checks. It’s very realistic.

How in the world do you figure out what your gun likes in let’s say in 12 rounds? That’s assuming you don’t shoot at all before the season and you shoot 1 deer every year. I’m not being smart. I seriously want to know because by the time I’m happy I have a couple hundred down range and I’m still playing around with seating depth. Neck tension etc. unless of course you use the same reamer and barrel blank over and over.

I don’t have a ton of time to go shoot. So when I do go shoot I bring 6-8 rifles and put 20-30 rounds through them a piece. That’s the reason for my low round count.

The majority of my rifles are right around 150-300 round mark. My AR is high and so are my rimfires. My shotgun has about 10k rounds through it but no one gives a shit about a shotgun. Lol

I know of several local shooters that just can't keep their attention one one rifle. They get a super accurate rifle and once load development is done they get bored with it. They just put it in the safe or trade it on something. To them 5 grand is nothing and it's their true hobby. Other people like myself don't have enough top end scopes for the different rifles. Mostly bc my wife found out what I paid for my last March scope I bought and I want to stay married

I keep accurate records for every rifle I have. May not believe the counts but I have a Rem 700 that was re-barreled with a Krieger barrel 8 years ago, to date 63 rounds, a Win 70 Stealth in .308 with 90 rounds, a 700 VS Stainless in .22-250 with 123 rounds and a Mod 70 Featherweight purchased in 2012 in .243 with 44 rounds.

Kind of sad but I find myself spending more time shooting pistols now.

I have some guns I have never fired...probably more of those than ones I have fired. But a lot of those I have shot I have gone through multiple barrels. Just depends on what it is and what I need it for. So I could definitely have a few that I will see at some point that will be unfired or low rounds etc.

Why would i go out and burn 100-200rds thru a 6lb hunting rifle? You can pick a load out of a book, verify it while zeroing the scope and shoot a 3 shot .75-1.00” group and be done. Why get beat up with a 1” gun when you can burn the barrel off a gun thatll actually shoot? Why would i spend $80 to go work up a load and get pounded by a deer rifle to get it from 1” to 1/2” when im going to go shoot a deer at 150yd? You cant work up a load on a rifle with a 4-12 heavy duplex scope and 4lb trigger anyway so why burn it down trying?

I got a used Savage 7mm mag with a Tupperware stock & HARD rubber butt pad. Might as well of been red oak! I fired 3 shots, bought a pachmyer pad, shot the rest of the box & traded that S.O. B.!
Never flinched before that but did for years afterward. Damn thing!

Keith

So it had 20rds fired- and thats just because you had to shoot the box up so thats actually more than most would have
