So I just finished putting a couple rifles together. Both are Howa Mini actions in 223. My plan was to give one to my 25 year old son for a graduation present and I was going to keep the other. What I finished with are these 2 different guns. I asked each of my 3 sons, 25 and 2 teenagers which one they would choose and each of them chose the opposite of what I would choose. That is when I knew I was getting old.
The top gun is 22" sporter contour threaded with a factory walnut monte carlo stock with a Jefferson hinged bottom metal, Hact with upgraded trigger spring that breaks at 18oz and a Silencerco Harvester can.
The bottom gun is also a 22" sporter with threaded barrel, Boyds Spike camp in zombie laminate, factory bottom metal with detach magazine and a bipod. Also has a Jard Trigger that breaks at under 8oz.
I just turned a half century and love the factory walnut stock and Jeffereson hinged bottom metal. I was surprised, but all three of my boys wanted the zombie laminate with the detach magazine and bipod. I will probably switch triggers as the Jard is light for a varmint gun.
Ignore the scope, which one do you prefer?
