how to?

I have a couple 22-250 rifles. Win mod 70 heavy barrel and a ruger 77 with a heavy barrel. The model 70 is after 64, and the Ruger is from the 80's. Looking to shoot heavier bullets, and wondering what twist these rifles have, or a way to find out. I am new to the shooting forum and hope this post is in the correct forum.

A tight fitting patch on a cleaning rod that has a swivel handle will soon enough let you know what the twist is..
Start the patch into the barrel and make a mark on the rod handle, when it turns one complete revolution measure how long the rod went to make that 360 degree turn.. Thats your twist............
