Heavy bullet 220 Swift.

I have a 8 twist Krieger on my 220 Swift. I shoot 80 grain VLD Berger's.
Shooting prairie dogs in the wind your holdoff will shrink by more than half compared to shooing 52-55 grain bullets. Also your effective range will increase significantly. I did shoot a 10 shot 14 inch group at Williamsport without any load development. Suggestions for longer barrel clean the barrel really well and do it often. in my experience the Swift is more accurate than the several 22-250's that I own or have owned.

Swifts are Fun and Nostalgic, I like 'em.
But a 22 Creedmoor with 8-Twist and some H4350 , Berger 80.5 Fullbores , Crusing along at 3387 fps are Just plain Awesome.

Had this one since 1973, she is one her 3rd. Barrel. One of the most enjoyable rifles I have ever owned. Has always shot bugholes and if I have to shoot more than 500yds. Out comes my .243 Ackley Improved with 107 gr. bullets. That old 77 has one of the smoothest factory actions,, I have ever had the pleasure to operate. Blazing speed, light recoil, crazy accurate, what's not to like???????? :)Ruger 220 Swift 1.jpg
