how to trim odd ball calibers

I have the lee case length guage trimmers for my common calibers but am needing a way to trim a 22br,6xc and 5/35smc. Lee dosent offer these off the shelf, no idea if they custom make them. What options do i have for trimming these? Would rather not do the trimming dies. thanks

What you need is a wilson trimmer! I think the holder for the 5/35Smc,6br,22br should work for all three cases. The 6br or BR case holder should work for the 2 and the 6xc ,well I am not sure if the 22-250 would work or not.Call wilson and see what they say. The wilson is a far superior trimmer and way more accurate.

I second the Wilson trimmer. If you can not find a profile within the cartridges they offer they will make one for you. Simply send a sized or fired case (depending upon when you trim - before or after sizing) for very little $$$.

Doug Giraud makes and stocks those case holders for his trimmer. He will also pretty much make any custom case holder he can that will work in his trimmer.

The forrester trimer uses a collet to hold the case head, then you buy the mandrel to match the cal of the case (6mm, 22, ect).

Forster++ Forster has pilots available for all calibers that I know of, As mentioned collet holds the case, you can trim almost anything. You do have to set it up for the case being trimmed, at that point its faster than most other systems. Just can't jump back and forth as easily. Trimmong the Lee pilots is OK if your case falls in the range you can cut down to.. Some don't

I wouldn't spend 400.00 plus on a Giraud just yet.I have 5 different case trimmers and they all have a use for specific reasons. But the Wilson is simple and it will make your cases as square as any case trimmer on the market and the case holders work on several cartridge cases. You can buy an adaptor to use a battery powdered drill to power it if you don't like cranking the handle. It is the most elegant simple tool you can own and well worth the investment. You don't need the hopped up model just the basic model with the trimmer holder to make it easier to work with. With a drill you can crank them out pretty fast and then just deburr them how you like them. Don't waste alot of money on something you use occasionally unless you are doing huge quantity's of brass for say an AR-15.

I've done the same thing that Nomad describes. It works ok and is not too hard to do. Several lathe type trimmers can handle all of those cases too! Lightman
