How to identify PRESSURE signs?

7mm RSAUM range day, ran a few new loads using Rem. brass, CCI BR, 65.4 H1000. I am a bit new to reloading and was advised that a similar load (66.4 gr H1000) shot through my rifle was showing a bit of stress. How do I tell if the load is too HOT, signs of too much pressure? Is there a link with (pics) showing what to look for?

Borden Alpine Action, Brux custom cut Rem varmint barrel.

Thanks is advance and Best Regards.

Some pressure signs would be a sticky bolt, puckering on the primer around the firing pin strike, and flattening of the primer. Sticky bolt is pretty much self explanatory. Puckering on the primer depends on how tight the firing pin hole is compared to the firing pin itself. If the firing pin hole is large compared to the firing pin sometimes you will see primer puckering prematurely and if the firing pin hole is tighter to the firing pin you may not see primer puckering at all. If you look at an new loaded round (never fired) you will notice that it has rounded edges between the primer and the brass as you start to develop pressure you will notice these rounded edges start to flatten out.

Above are a few signs of pressure. Excessive pressure takes a toll on your brass and other things will start to take place such as brass not wanting to rechamber even after being resized. This is due to swelling that occurs at the base of the brass due to prolonged firing at higher pressures. The pressure signs that are posted above in my experience are the ones to look for during load development. Brian Brown.

there is a weak area of the case where the web at the head of the case thins to the wall of the side of the case, you will see a presure ring just in front of the base about 1/4" it will expand depending on the presure level of you load,

i mike sized cases, then fired cases and try to load with a limit of .001-0013" expansion of that ring.

Thank you both Gentleman. Your help and assistance is greatly valued and will no doubt be saved and referred to. Side note; in the past I have loaded several batches for my 7mm rem. mag. Blaser and have noticed that between FACTORY ammunition and my hand loads I get a very distinct (what appears to be a powder burn?) on the neck of the hand loads and not the factory loads?

This was evident with my hand loads in the 7mm RSAUM also? It looks like a creeping powder burn? marking? on half the neck of the shell, does not reach the shoulder? Is this normal?

Regards.
