I believe that 10% of the people in the general population are “programmed” to screw things up for the other 90%. Very fortunate that roughly only .1% of the members of this from might fall in that 10%.

Believe the FORUM BOSS does an excellent job by providing “adult supervision” and appropriate action as needed.

You work hard, FORUM BOSS, no doubt about it, and you showed some compassion by refunding his membership. You lead by example, as any good leader does. Good job!

Occasionally we see those who cannot make a point without being insulting, and when called out for it, they attack with more insults. What I see in that behavior is someone abused as a child, perhaps physically, but definitely psychologically or both, and you know that they didn't ask for that kind of treatment. After all they were a child, they couldn't have.

You seem to recognise that, and despite your limited time you do what is good for the forum in a way that is respectable.

I admire that!

As a point of interest, I just took a look at my "Ignore" list to see if he was there. I don't tolerate that type of behavior to me or any other forum member. Appears he wasn't there, don't know if it's because he's been scrubbed from the forum. As a side note, I counted the number on my Ignore list and it sits at thirty. Unfortunately all "Ignore" means is you don't see their posts.

The person who has been harassing you / being a jerk can see yours, and keep insulting / attacking you.... yer just unaware of / kept from seeing it.

Kinda why I don't use it. If someone if gonna harass and insult me, I'd rather be able to defend myself.

So it must’ve just been me getting my panties in a knot.
Now I just try to keep on keepin on.

I use it on FB to end the harassment.

I go back a day later or so and unblock them. Most ignorant behavior is short lived. Give them a "time out" and then everything goes back to normal

Sticks and stones.......................I just don't feel the need to read someone's insults, to me or others. There have been times when there is a good, informative thread going on this forum and somebody gets their undies in a twist and the whole thing runs off the track. I'll just stop reading it and if someone gets really ugly, oh well. Probably didn't miss much after that. Difference of opinion can be a disaster.

In this day and age of professional keyboard warriors I support one warning noting zero tolerance going forward with 3-7 day temporary ban. If a combative/hostile/unappreciative response follows Nuke the account.

I would make it clear at membership benefits sign up that a refund is not an option for combative/hostile actions.

I'm not speaking blindly as I have over 15 years of moderating experience and have had to deal with some high level crooks that were simply members and some forum sponsors. Some of them minor felons and some were 6 figure level professional crooks.

Money (classifieds/selling goods/services), attention, or simply the personal entertainment of trolling of harassing people are typically their reason(s) for existing. Life is too short to tolerate online behavior that is not acceptable in face to face situations or is of criminal intent. ​

Good job Boss! Have noticed a trend lately of rude comments by a few members, rather than simple, civil discourse. Too many "pissing matches" started in threads. Glad to see the line drawn.

The folks who live to argue and insult will be kicked out of here. And the smart-aleck trolls who waste admin time will be shown the door.

Today, I am banning another two members for being hostile and trolling other members' threads.

Bottom line is this -- to "police" a thread and then issue warnings or a temporary ban can easily take 30 minutes per incident.

We now have 48,000 members. If just half of 1% (0.5%) of those members cause problems, that can consume 120 man-hours of admin time per year. That is three 40-hour weeks. Time I DO NOT have.

And to those wise-guys who want to challenge our policies, consider this --with 48,000 members, any one individual member represents just .00002 of the collective (i.e. 0.002%). It is far better for me to just ban those trouble-makers rather than waste even five minutes attempting to caution them, modify their behavior, or listen to their self-serving, made-up excuses.

And I'm losing virtually nothing by booting a bad apple. Lost ad revenue from having one fewer set of eyeballs? Hey you can do the math -- one member is just .002% of the total (two-thousandths of one percent).

THERE YOU GO!!!! they are not worth the time!! this is hands down the BEST (look at the members list, world record holders, smith's, great shooters and great people that are trying to shoot) site for shooters and especially SERIOUS shooters (no y'all, not me). thanks for this site, from all of us
