How to find local matches in your area?

Is there a listing or something where matches are listed or posted? I can find some of the larger ones but looking for smaller matches closer to home. Southwest Ohio, some people have mentioned a 600 yard match in Delphos Ohio but I can find nothing on it.

I get ads and emails all the time for local matches who want to meet right now. Seems a little fishy though, so I haven't checked it out. I too prefer the smaller ones.

Actually it is fairly accurate for most matches. At least you can get an idea of ranges that may be holding them. Again I ask what is the discipline you would like to be involved with and your geographic location; it would greatly help us find matches in you area.

Dont know, never shot any matches except local club stuff. Thinking 600 yard stuff to start, bench rest, F-class? Just dont want to show up and find out I cant shoot because of equipment limitations or restrictions. I guess a match where you "run what you brung" kinda thing...

You're not that far from Camp Atterbury, IN. Just off I-65, south of Indy about 50 miles. They usually shoot 2 weekends each month. Long range and mid range matches. Open to sling, F-Class, tactical, etc. shooting. Check out the website for more info. They shoot electronic targets with a great bunch of guys and very helpful.

It's all in meeting the right people, met a really nice guy on here and we spoke on the phone and he invited me up to Bellefontaine this past Monday and we shot a nice little 300 yard match. Speaking with that group of guys I'm now clued in to several more places to shoot and a few matches, one of which is darn near in my back yard and I never knew that place was even there?!

Some of us shoot at Black Swamp Rifle and Pistol club in Delphos that is a 200yd maximum range. They have 100 or 200 yd group or score matches on the first Sunday of every month. I'm not aware of any ranges close to there other than Roanoke, Indiana that has 600 yd or more capability. JME. WD

I dont really mind the drive but not wanting to get into the bigger matches yet till I figure out whats going on and how things operate. I cant get any of my shooting buddy's to want to go to any other matches with me, It's like its out of their comfort zone? I'm going to try and make it to a few of the one's I was told about even if I have to go by myself,.. I have proven many times I can make a fool of myself without help just fine... LOL

Just find a convenient one, regardless of the size, and show up. If you are a competitor and have not made a fool of yourself yet it is only because you have not shot enough matches. Go ahead and get it out of the way early.
