How small of fence hole can a coyote fit through?

I have had enough free time lately to start planning a coyote size live trap. I have several cattle panels I want to use, and a welder i need to practice with anyway. So how small or big a hole can a coyote fit through?
Im thinking 4" square would hold even a pup. Maybe even 6"?? Thoughts

I would definitely go with the 4". If they can get their head thru, they can and will get out. I've got some live traps that I've caught coyotes in and they are 4" or maybe smaller. Good luck

Thanks for the Luck, I figure i will catch 2 dogs and every house cat for 4 miles before a yote even walks by. Lol. If course the dog might make good bait! They ate my neighbors little dog couple weeks ago. That little bastard was gonna bite someone someday so no love lost. But I know what they eat round here! LOL

I built a dog box like the florida red necks use and put the conduit 4 inches on center and the biggest pit bull in the group could squeeze through. you need to rethink that one.

4" squares. A big country boy ham fist wont go through.

Around here they are extremly hard to catch in a live trap.
You might be better off using let hold traps and snares are even better where legal. Ive trapped on and off for bout a decade and only caught 2 yotes in live traps so good luck

One of my friends that works on a game farm traps coyotes and bobcats. he told me he had never caught a coyote with bait. They won't go in a trap for food. He said he finds a dead one and gets the urine and feces. and puts that on the trap. he says they are so territorial the scent of another in their area will make them fall for the trap.

You won't catch many coyotes in a live trap as it is something thats not done alot. Now for a 4" hole a coyote will grab the wire with its teeth and make the hole bigger. I do nothing but trap lots of coyotes every year and in 47 years have caught 2 in cage traps and both were young pups
