You are looking at the present, not the past!!!Hmmm??? Federal doesn't produce "Premium" brass separate from their other brass. Guess you'd have to call ALL of their brass "Premium"???
How ''Premium'' is Federal Premium Brass?
l came into a small quantity of ''Federal Premium Unfired Brass''. This is nickel plated brass in Federal Gold Colored Boxes, cal. 22-250 Rem. How does this Federal Premium brass compare to other premium brands like Lapua or Nosler? 282forum.accurateshooter.com
They had three grades!!!
Federal Brass and Ammo (yellow brass), Premium Brass and ammo (nickel plated in green and white box) , and another line of brass that you are unaware of, unless you lived in that era and happened to see the ads and/or Federal fliers! The better than Mil Spec Match, FEDERAL MATCH in 223, 308, and 30-06 (nickel plated in mostly red box with white)!!
I believe these MATCH cases were equal to, if not better quality, than Lapau today!!!
This is based on statistical analysis of accuracy of loads and analysis of my shooting skills (prone position, bipod, with homemade sand bag made using lead shot bag, shooting a 700 BDL 24", 1:9.25 twist, Varmint Special in 7-08 using SGK 160SPBT loads)!! I set my target Probability of cloverleafing 5 shots!! Using both Statistics, the PROBABILITY calculation was: 7 shots needed to cloverleaf 5 shots at 100!! The Probability proof was 3-7 shot groups.
1 group had 2 flyers, 2 groups had no flyers!! Yeah, 2-7 shot groups under 3/16" MOA!!! I BEAT THE CALCULATED ODDS!!
