How much to turn Lapua brass?

I got some new 220 Russian brass and fireformed it to 6ppc. I turned the necks down to 268 just so a seated round chambers. It does not allow the neck to expand at all, and all the neck die does is punch the primer out. The neck is still tight enough to hold a bullet. Should I turn the necks down more? Shoot them and see how the groups look? This is a factory Ruger that I inherited.

You don't say what your chamber neck is. If you don't know it would be a good idea to do a chamber cast with cerrosafe and find out before you continue. That being said, if your description is accurate, you have what has sometimes been know as a "fitted" neck with virtually no clearance. For safety, I suggest you take it down to .265 anyway. Most benchrest rifle use .002-.003 clearance for necks.

Thanks for the info, that clearance was what I was looking for. I do not know what the neck is, I'll look at the cerrosafe.

Sounds like you have a .268 neck chamber. What sized neck bushing are you using. The tightest I've ever run brass successfully is with a .002" clearance. So I would turn necks to get a loaded diameter of .266" and play with bushing size to get the neck tension it liked.
