How much brass for f open

Last year I ordered some Peterson 6.5 PRC brass and it just arrived... a lot of it. I'm building a 7sprc(necking up to 7mm) so am gathering components. How much Brass do I need to shoot F Class on a club basis...I'm new at this.

That would probably be a different answer from anyone you ask but for me i like to start with 400 pcs. I typically use a 6.5 for midrange and a 7mm for long range so this will easily get me throuhg a big event either the SWNs or the Nationals.

You can never have too much of anything when your competing on a regular basis.
You will use it or need it ...sooner or later.
( If you do have too much,Its easy to sell some as well. )

If shooting club only then figure 60 shots for record plus sighters (which will vary based on mid range or long range) I bring 75-80rds to a 600 yd match and 85 or so to a 1000yd match. If you are shooting E-targets then you may want an extra 20 ;). For testing purposes I would have 30-50rds set aside separate from your match rounds. For good measure 200 pieces should do ya even with the occasional 2 day local/regional championship.

I like 300 on hand. I use 75 per one day match and 225 for a 3 day match. It is also nice to have 300 on all the same firing cycle, usually lasts the life of barrel.

Club matches are usually 100 to 120 for record per weekend, with 25 for sighters a minimum of 150, get 200 and you should be fixed.

If you ever plan to go to nationals or SWN then you’ll need 350 to 400+. If you think you’ll do that I’d get 500 if you can find them.

Enough to get through a season at the same condition. New - year 1. 1x fired - year 2, so on and so forth… therefore it varies for each shooter.

One way to think about this question would be in terms of expected barrel life.

(total # pieces of brass) x (estimated number of firings per piece) = enough to burn out a barrel

This may not be realistic for every shooter or every situation, but the idea is that you don't want to switch Lot #s of a given component later in a barrel's life and have to [unnecessarily] use up a lot more barrel life working up a new load from scratch.
