How many shots

How many fouler shots after cleaning does it take in your rifle for it to settle down?

Mine,a 6Dasher with 30" Hart Barrel) seems to take about 3 or 4 before it settles. The first shot is aways the slowest of the series and each additional shot increases in velocity until the 3 or 4 and they begin to become more consistant.

My 26" 6 Dasher takes two rounds to settle in. The first round is always 12 to 18 inches low at 1000 yards. I aim on the top of my sighter target for that first round and the spoter disc usually ends up 6 to 10 inches above the bull.

My 6BR takes at least three shots to settle enough to start final sight-in. The first shot will be about 24" low. Second shot will be about one foot low. Third shot will be very close in verticle. I shoot these shots at the claybirds on the bank at Williamsport,1000 yards). I started shooting three shots at home the night before the match to save barrel heating,and time) and this worked very well.
28" Kreiger barrel, very easy to clean.
I might add here that I'm only talking about verticle. With the wind conditions at Williamsport you might need two or three feet of horizontal to get "on". Of course then the wind shifts
and you fire a few more rounds!

Richard due you feel that these two rounds are needed for the fouling or the heat?

Changeling;

The first two rounds are low only out of a clean barrel;
A cold fouled barrel will print to point of aim.
