how many rounds?

tdoyka

oh crap!!! better buy another one.
i gathered enough money for my encore in 22-250 ai, 27" mgm heavy factory barrel, 1in 8" twist, and bullets weighing 60 - 75 grs. i don't plan on using max loads, probably using 22-250 loads(want to save the brass) maybe a little more. groundhogs, foxes, and coyotes from 250-500 yards. i won't be "frying" the barrel, i will shoot slow and accurate. i tried to get my 6.5 creedmoor(16 1/4" mgm heavy factory barrel) to get hot, but after shooting five shots(i'm disabled) quickly, it was barely warm. i haven't tried my 20 vartarg(16 1/4" mgm factory heavy) and i don't plan on it!!!
my question is, how many rounds will i get from this barrel? 800, 1000, 1500, or more...

You should get 2000-2500 rounds thru it , providing you shoot slow and let it cool when it does get hot. If you're trying to compare it to the 6.5 Creedmore, the 22/250 is more overbore than the Creedmore and will run hotter. Bottom line enjoy it, that's what you bought it for!

IMHO, depends on the load you shoot. But I'd be willing to say LCaz gave you a fair answer. BTW, something I carry in my go bag is a small battery operated fish tank air pump that you can buy at your local pet shop along with a small plastic tube that can be inserted into the barrel via the throat when opening the bolt. I use it during the summer when the temps go up to help cool the barrel fastest. I usually shoot 5 shots and then insert the tube and let the pump run for 5 minutes and then shoot again. Not sure if it save on barrel life all that much, but does help to cool it down.
