I am new to the long range comp and have not been to a match yet. How many rounds do you need to take to the range for both 1000 and 600 yd comp ??

At a minimun of 75 rounds.. that will be 5 sighters and 20 rounds for score,times three)... but IT would be wise to have more just incase.

That depends on if you are shooting BR or FClass. FClass for the single yardage course is 20 shots for score plus sighters. 75 rounds should get you through the match easily. An NBRSA monthly is usually 3 targets in LG and 3 in HG. 5 shots for score per target in LG and 10 shots for score per target in HG plus sighters. So 30 rounds at least for LG and 50 or so for HG.

I shoot F-Class both Open and T/R classes. We shoot NRA registered Matches and they consist of 3 targets of 20 rounds each for record. The first target for record allows unlimited sighters and the following 2 require 2 sighting shots. This sets you up for a minimum of 64 rounds plus the unlimited sighting shots on the first target.

Some Clubs shoot 4 targets of 20 rounds for record on each.

We usually take 100 rounds and bring home about 30 rounds.

MOre is always better than not enough.

Thank you for the information. I will be shooting benchrest. So I would need about 80-100 rounds to shoot both 1000 and 600 if I was to get into a shoot off.

Let me be more specific. For a 2 gun, 12 target, NBRSA or IBS tournament, you will fire 90 record shots. If conditions are such that you need to fire a lot of sighters, you'd better have a minimum of 150 rounds ready to go.

If you shoot a different gun in each class,Light & Heavy) the 90 record shots break down to 60 for Heavy and 30 for light.
