Link

I know this isn't AR.com But just wondering how many guys shoot em?

Maybe this question isn't welcome here? & It's a betch go register on AR.com

I just picked up a RR National Match iron sight. And am just getting started with my 1st AR.

thanks

1 Lower, 3 Uppers. My favorite is a 24" Les Baer barreled, .264 LBC AR chambered, DPMS Lo-Pro receiver. Lower sports a Jewell two stage trigger and a Magpul PRS stock. One very accurate and fun gun to shoot.

Same here: One lower (Colt), three uppers. One fixed carry handle w/ Krieger 1-7.8. One flatop w/ removable carry handle, also a Krieger 1-7.8. One Bushmaster dedicated flatop (optics only) w/ 1-9 chrome-lined, surprisingly, very very accurate. Have over 18000 rounds fired with the Colt lower & except for the trigger, have never needed to replace anything. ;)

Link,

The AR is a very versatile rifle that can suit many needs from varmint hinting to NRA & CMP competition to tactical shooting. I have even hear of guys using them for bench rest but don't know what the success rate is since bench rest is a game for the bolt gun. I am primarily a CMP, NRA competitor and use the AR service and match rifle almost exclusively. It can be chambered in the more than adequate .223 or a variety of extremely accurate 6mm cartridges. An AR has even claimed victory 3 times in the last few years at the national matches in the hands of Carl Bernosky chambered in 6mm Hagar.

Off the top of my head, I couldn't even tell you how many ARs I have in the safe right now. I always have at least three match grade Service Rifles in rotation; one is my primary, the second is a back up and the third is an unfired "on deck" reserve rifle for when the primary goes to get rebuilt. But there's plenty of others around the house. Most are match grade Service Rifles used in competition, one is a dedicated 22 LR built by Derrick Martin (Accuracy Speaks) that I use for a training rifle, and I just had a full Match Rifle built by John Holliger (White Oak Precision) last year. Haven't put a round through the last one, as I just can't bring myself to put away the Service Rifles yet. Also have a USAMU spec Designated Marksman's Rifle and a couple M4 variants for carry/social purposes. I also have a sneaking suspicion that a 300 Blackout will be finding its way into the safe within the very near future.

No apologies here. The AR is an incredibly accurate little rifle that has become a true workhorse. It's the longest serving US service rifle in history and has proven itself in every environment on Earth. Had some teething problems, but so did the Garand, the M1903, the AK-47 and every other piece of ordnance you can name. You've got a good rifle there, and don't let anyone lead you wrong on that.

absolultely love mine. i built it myself and is an almost exact replica of the mk12 rifle. i have taken it out to 891 yards so far shooting 77 bergers and aa2520 with wolf primers

I also have three service rifles for high power, a 1:8 for across the course, a 1:12 for 200 yards and less and a 1:7.7 back up. A DPMS AR-10, a 1:14 varmint rifle, a 6WOA varmint rifle from WOA, a 7.62x40 WT, an upper in .222REM and a 10 inch short barreled AR for home defense. I also have a DPMS California AR lower which does not except a magazine to build a long range AR/bolt gun. I need another safe to house my bolt guns and others or a safe room for all. The easiest gun to build or modify hands down.

My favorite gun to shoot is a breaked 5.56 16 inch lothar barreled upper. It shoots 2inchs with lake city at 200 yards. Doesn't kick and fast as can be.

Thanks for the peply s guys.

It's always a pleasure to talk guns.

Like I said i'm new to semis. I'm a bolt guy.

Question. We all spend so much time on concentricity with our bolt guns.
ARs - When the bolt picks up the round out of the mag it slams the bullet into the feed ramp. Then bounces it up into the top of the chamber and slams it home into the chamber.
What does that do for OAL and concentricity? Does .004 of neck tension hold the bullet in place? We know there are ARs out there that shoot .5 MOA or less. With the little I know it looks like a wonder. What do you guys think?

thanks

Yeah, those mouse guns are fun to build and shoot. I've built and had a hand in building at lest 16. Owned 12, 9 at one time. Currently have 3 in the safe. Now I've converted to the bolt.
