How many hunters do we have here?

I only hunt Pdog's and Squirrels. I currently use a .22LR, 223 and a 6x284 for my varmint hunting needs. I am currently having a 6BR built.

New member here, wish I had found this forum sooner. Love it.
I hunt whatever is in season any time I can, which is often but not often enough. Moose, caribou, bear, black and brown), deer
on kodiak, coyote, wolf, and all the small game. Have some kind
of wild game about every meal. As for MTPM,most thrill per minute) nothing compares stalking a brown bear, personal opinion). I have a hard time leaving them alone. When the season is closed I keep several game cameras out and have a lot
of interesting pictures. ,I got into the game camera sport a
couple years ago and it is a great passtime when the hunting season is closed. Anybody else doing this?)
I'm getting interested in long range accuracy for deer hunting
and am in the process of putting together a 300 win mag on a
model 700 action. Any input from anyone on a good compromise
regarding barrel weight for accuracy versus a light weight for
hunting in the mountains?

Check this photo out. When I shot this Elk he was at 424 yards. The bullet entered from the briket area of the left side of the photo and almost took off his off-side shoulder. The .338 265gr Aluminum tip bullet really did a job on this critter. Traveling at 3496fps this is a real potent pill for any critter in my neck of the woods. At the 424 yard distance the bullet was still traveling at 3000fps and delivering 5500fp of energy.

I am really looking forward to the availability of the new GEN II 265gr Alum tip. I am told the BC will be right at the 1.00 mark. WOW!!

New to the forum, but glad I found it. Love to hunt and fish with my boy. This pic is from April 08 of his first turkey.

His first turkey was a monster!

I've yet to get one,though I've tried...too many times.

Great job young man...look at those spurs!

I live in Australia and have been humting for 34 years and will be doing so for another 34 if I can help it.
I started on pigeons with an ait rifle.
Most of my hunting these days is on small and medium game with goats being the most common target, the odd pig rabbits foxes duck and very occasionally, That will change ) deer.
Planning a trip north to hunt buffalo in the next 12 month.
Currently I hunt on a property which I partially own in western NSW, My own little piece of paradise. )
These days I avoid killing an animal unless I can use it and if I do i try to get the meat in the best possible condition. I will generally not fire if I cant get a clear head or neck shot and i wont shoot if I already have meat in the back pack, Just like in the photo ) I figure that like that there will always be game for tomorrow.
I own and shoot 18 calibres from 17rem to 378WM I just need more time to hunt.

Would love to come to North America hunting.

Cheers

Here are som photos., Did not work before )

I shot these with a 300 mag and a 300 ultra mag The ultra's my favorite now. JEREMY

I am way more of a Hunter than I am a target shooter. I am here for all the good advice and knowlege on this forum. I love to hunt deer and coyotes. I also hunt Ducks and Geese, and ground squirrls, pigs when available.

Lets see, I hunt deer, elk, bear, cougar, coyotes, nutria, sage rats, rock chucks and various other varmints. I also dabble in bird hunting, Pigeons, Dove and Grouse.

I didnt draw any tags this year so I will only be hunting blacktails and bear. I can still harvest 2 bears here in Oregon this year. I hunted this spring for bear and let one go opening weekend in hopes of finding a bigger one. Then the weather got screwy and once it settled down I got too busy at work to get out.

I have a .300 Win Mag, .270, .257 Roberts, 2 .243's a .243 AI an AR .223 a .17 HMR and 2 .22lr's. Oh yeah I almost for the 12 guage. Before the election and all panic buying I used to shoot all the guns regularly. Lately I have mainly been playing the the .243 AI and the AR. Both have been getting a pretty good work out the last couple months hunting Nutria, Gray diggers and coyotes. I can afford to shoot them since I stocked up on components before the rush on them. And Ive been finding enough stuff here and there to keep my supply up.

Bear season opens up in a month!!! Ive got a couple scouted out already as well as a few dandy bucks that I will chase in September.

I did not stock-up on ANYTHING, so I sadly await the release of primers, etc. I cannot believe that American manufacturers are somehow so inhibited as to meet American DEMAND! Now, I await MAGTECH Brazilian releases and EVEN Wolf Russian fare! What a world we now face for our requirements! Seems almost SOCIALISTIC in nature, cliffy

Stuff is starting to loosen up a bit. The last time I went into a local reloading shop I was actually able to buy small rifle primers off the shelf. I also picked up 2 lbs of powder I had been looking for.

I kind of have an 'in' when it comes to powder and primers. My brother in law's mom works for a small well know custom gun shop that also sells components. She always lets me know when they get a shipment of stuff.

Elk are normally my #1 priority. Deer, blacktails or mulies), cougars, coyotes, black bears, and small varmints usually make up the rest. But this year my 13 yr old daughter's bighorn hunt is #1 followed by a long awaited antelope hunt.

Some of the calibers I field are 45-70, 338 Edge, 7.82 Warbird, 7 STW, 7RM, 280AI, 7mm-08, 243, 22-250AI, 222, 22lr, and 17HMR.

Here are a couple of pics...

I don't hunt, but I do kill a lot of things. :D

Actually, this will be my first year of 'hunting'. Going to take the old lady out that has been hunting for a few years now. We are going to hunt Antelope and Elk. Neither drew a deer tag.

25-06 for me, 7mm Rem Mag for her.

WOW!!! I can't believe it. I drew a BULL ELK tag for the Missouri Breaks here in Montana. Hope to be posting some awesome pictures here when I return from my hunt after Thanksgiving. This old fart is excited!!
