except win at 1000 on a regular basis. like a dasher or bra can.
i do own a 6br
You are truly way off in that statement of enough to keep component companies in lots of money. If the components company relied on the amount of people buying components they couldn't keep themselves in bubble gum. Why do you think components are in short supply? The government has an unlimited budget so that's where the components company are doing business with not the nickel and dime reloading industry.Enough to keep the component companies in lots of money.
I shoot straight 6 BR and in my very humble opinion it can do just about whatever all the wildcats can with less work and less money .
you are right but so am i...6br is not a known std in winning 1000 yard br matches.Cartridges don't win matches.
The post of @Okumacaptain may not have trended this way, but I'll expand as I see it:
The person who chooses a well-understood cartridge with good component support can spend a minimum of time and resources at the loading bench getting ready to shoot. The champion wisely spends those dollars, minutes, and hours actually learning to shoot.
Shooters win matches.
The 30 WolfPup that the late Stan Ware and I developed pushed what could be done with a BR case to the extreme. The shoulder was blown forward .240 and the neck ended up being .085 long. Here's how the case morphed in it's final form:
Lt to rt: 6BR Lapua, necked to .30, neck turned, fire formed, loaded round. The five shot group was on my first test session after f-forming cases. Powder was H4198, bullets were my own 117's.

This picture is one I took for the article this site did on Stan and the cartridge:

Stan and I both used the WolfPup in our HBR guns (which is what it was developed for). It was responsible for a lot of wins in registered IBS/NBRSA tournaments. Stan actually shot it exclusively in his VFS gun, as well.
There is so much more to the .30 WolfPup that's never been discussed or disclosed. Other than Stan and I, Randy Robinett is the only other person that knows the entire story, including tune ups and how we ran and set up the cases/chamber.
Good shootin' -Al
